Job description

Introduction

The IBM Electronic Design Automation (EDA) team is seeking motivated early-career engineers with a passion for software engineering, AI, and semiconductor design. Our team develops advanced software and Agentic AI solutions that drive the design and verification of IBM's next-generation processors and computing systems — spanning logic design, verification, synthesis, routing, and timing analysis.

These positions are competitive. We encourage applications from candidates with demonstrated programming skills, a foundation in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering, and a genuine interest in AI and advanced computing.

Your Role And Responsibilities

EDA is at the center of IBM's Agentic AI transformation in semiconductor development. As an EDA Software Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers to design, develop, and deploy innovative tools used across IBM zSystems, Power Systems, Storage, and Quantum Computing products.

Work You Could Be Doing

AI-Driven Automation: Develop and deploy Agentic AI and machine learning solutions that automate complex chip design workflows, including synthesis and place-and-route

Tool Development: Build and maintain software tools that support logic design, functional verification, timing analysis, and physical design

Algorithm Engineering: Design and implement efficient algorithms and large-scale software systems that improve design quality and accelerate chip development

Collaborative Innovation: Partner with hardware and software engineers across IBM to deliver solutions that shape the future of computing
