Position Summary

The Center for Personalized Health is seeking an Accountant 2.

The Accountant 2 will provide professional accounting support for the Center for Personalized Health by administering financial activities associated with restricted and unrestricted funding sources. This position performs account reconciliation, financial reporting, budget monitoring, purchasing, travel and reimbursement processing, journal entries, and financial analysis while ensuring compliance with University, State, Federal, and sponsor regulations. The Accountant 2 works closely with Center leadership, Principal Investigators, Department Finance, and central administrative offices to support the Center's expanding research portfolio and ensure sound fiscal management.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 12 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing both restricted (sponsored) and unrestricted accounts in a higher education or academic medical center environment.

  • Working knowledge of UNM financial systems, including Banner Finance, MyReports, Chrome River, LoboMart, and related financial applications.

  • Experience monitoring research budgets, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and interpreting sponsor and University financial guidelines.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while providing exceptional customer service to faculty, researchers, and administrative partners.

  • Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
