- What do backend engineer postings screen for?
- A server-side language (Java, Python, Go, and C# lead current listings), SQL and one mainstream database, API design, and increasingly cloud services and containers. Postings are specific about their stack — match their nouns exactly on your resume, since the first screen is usually an ATS keyword pass, not an engineer.
- Backend vs full-stack postings — which should I apply to?
- Apply by the work described, not the title: plenty of 'full-stack' postings are backend roles with occasional UI work, and vice versa. If your depth is server-side, both lists are fair game — this page and the full-stack list overlap less than you'd think, because we classify by what the posting actually asks for.
