Visa sponsorship: common questions

How do you know an employer can sponsor a visa?
Where a country publishes a register we check it: the UK Home Office list of licensed sponsors and the Dutch IND recognised-sponsor list give a verified badge when the employer is on them. Germany, Ireland and Australia publish occupation and shortage lists, so a role on the list gets a badge (verified when the posting's salary clears the threshold). Gulf employers sponsor residence visas by default. Everything else comes from the posting text and is labelled as stated, not verified.
What does “likely” mean on a badge?
The evidence points that way but isn't exact: the company matched a register through a group or parent entity, or the role is on a salary-gated list and the posting doesn't state a salary we can check. Treat it as worth applying, and confirm in the interview.
Why does a job show “No visa sponsorship”?
The posting says so, in its own words — “must be authorised to work without sponsorship now or in the future”, “citizens or permanent residents only”, or for the US, ITAR/export-control and security-clearance requirements. A stated exclusion always wins over a register match: a licensed sponsor can still decline to sponsor a particular role.
A job has no badge at all — does that mean no sponsorship?
No. It means we found nothing either way: the employer isn't on a register we hold, the role isn't on a list, and the posting doesn't mention visas. Most postings are like this. Use the “Visa sponsor” filter to see only jobs with a positive signal.
Which US visas are covered?
From the posting text: H-1B (including transfer-only employers), cap-exempt employers, OPT/CPT acceptance and green-card sponsorship. Register-backed US badges (DOL LCA filings, E-Verify) are on the roadmap.
