Role Overview/Purpose

The Product Manager for Synchrony Card Access $2B+ product will own the strategy and evolution of a key Emerging Payments capability, shaping how customers access their payment credentials and use Synchrony credit across digital payment ecosystem. This leader will identify growth opportunities, translate customer and business needs into product direction, make prioritization decisions and lead capabilities from discovery through launch, adoption, measurement and optimization.

This is a highly collaborative and forward-thinking role for an adaptable product leader who is comfortable working in an evolving space. The ideal candidate is open to new ideas, brings innovative thinking, and acts as a true partner across business, technology, client, and functional teams. As payment products continue to evolve, this individual will help shape the future of how consumers transact, identify opportunities, define product direction, and deliver solutions that create value for customers, clients, and the business.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Define, own, and continuously evolve the Card Access product strategy and roadmap, establishing priorities for new and existing capabilities and leading product initiatives from concept through launch, optimization, and lifecycle management.

  • Identify, evaluate, and validate new product concepts through market research, customer insights, competitive analysis, stakeholder input, performance data, industry trends, customer behavior, and technology advancements.

  • Translate business objectives, customer needs and product strategy into clear product requirements and priorities, partnering with Product Owners and Agile teams to develop user stories, acceptance criteria and delivery plans.

  • Partner with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Agile teams to support prioritization, requirements, launch readiness, PI planning, and team updates. While maintaining product documentation, roadmaps, backlog status, planning materials, and quarterly business review inputs; while supporting prioritization, governance, compliance, and strategic alignment.

  • Develop business use cases, value propositions, and commercialization plans with go-to-market teams and internal stakeholders.

  • Stay current on emerging payment capabilities, including tokenization, card provisioning, credit rules, digital wallet experiences, and new payment ecosystems, to inform product strategy.

  • Establish product success metrics and own performance against key outcomes, including adoption, engagement, retention, customer experience, and business impact; use insights to identify friction points and optimization opportunities.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Technology, Agile Teams, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Operations, Risk, Analytics, Client Teams, external partners, and other stakeholders to drive alignment, timelines, and accountability.

  • Communicate product vision, roadmap, progress, risks, dependencies, and results clearly to stakeholders, influencing through strong relationships and alignment. This may include making informed product trade-offs across customer value, business impact, technology complexity, risk, regulatory requirements, and speed to market.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree. In lieu of degree, HS Diploma/GED and 6+ years of experience owning a digital product or capability across its lifecycle

  • 3+ years of experience owning a digital product or capability across its lifecycle, including defining product strategy, managing roadmaps and priorities, translating customer and business needs into product requirements, and leading capabilities from discovery through launch and optimization.

  • Experience with Agile delivery practices, backlog management, and PI planning including the ability to maintain clear product documentation and planning materials

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data, reporting, and customer insights to inform decisions and measure product performance.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Technology, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and client-facing teams.

  • Experience with product management, collaboration, analytics, and AI-enabled tools to improve product discovery, planning, decision-making, and execution.

  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Grade/Level: 11

The salary range for this position is

90,000.00 - 155,000.00

USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

We’re proud to offer you flexibility. At Synchrony, our way of working allows you to have the option to work from home near one of our Hubs or come into one of our offices. You will be required to commute to your nearest Hub (either virtual or physical) for in-person engagement activities such as regular business or team meetings, training and culture events.

  • Field Sales and some Commercial team roles may have varied location requirements based upon partner obligations or preferences.

Eligibility Requirements

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
