The Team

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join American Tower’s IT organization’s Data Engineering team. The team focuses on building, supporting, and maintaining data pipelines and datasets that enable analytics, reporting, and data products across the enterprise. Day to day you will collaborate with senior engineers, Data Products, Analytics, and business teams to deliver reliable and scalable data solutions. As a Data Engineer, you will implement data quality checks, support pipeline automation, document data assets, and troubleshoot issues under the guidance of senior team members.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a concentration in Computer Science or related quantitative field preferred.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field preferred.

  • Between 2–4 years of data engineering, data development, analytics engineering, database development, or related technical experience required.

  • Working knowledge of Structured Query Language and experience writing queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.

  • Working knowledge of Python or another programming language used for data processing.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, Amazon Web Services, and/or Google Cloud.

  • Exposure to modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, and/or similar technologies.

  • Basic understanding of data pipeline concepts including ingestion, transformation, scheduling, and monitoring.

  • Familiarity with Spark, PySpark, and/or distributed data processing preferred.

  • Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow, and/or similar tools preferred.

  • Basic understanding of data quality, validation, metadata, lineage, and access control concepts.

  • Basic understanding of data modeling concepts, including tables, relationships, facts, dimensions, and business-friendly datasets.

  • Experience using version control tools such as Git.

  • Ability to work in Agile or iterative delivery environments.

  • Eagerness to learn modern data engineering practices and grow into more advanced engineering responsibilities.

  • Fluency in English required; multilingual capabilities preferred.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.

  • Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.
