JOB SUMMARY

American Financing is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and analytical Data Systems Engineer to join our technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines, database architectures, and reporting systems that power our core mortgage operations. We are a lean & agile team, so you must possess the ambition & flexibility to wear multiple hats, write clean queries, troubleshoot data flow issues quickly, and ensure our business teams have seamless access to reliable operational data.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering, data systems administration, or database management.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, relational database management systems (RDBMS), data warehousing technologies, and ETL tools. Experience with Python or scripting for data automation is preferred.

  • Hands-on experience working with cloud data solutions (e.g., GCP, BigQuery, AWS, Azure) and BI tools. Experience with MS Excel, Access, and data modeling frameworks.

  • : Prior experience working with mortgage lending systems, Loan Origination Systems (LOS), or financial services data is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to translate business reporting needs into technical data solutions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT data pipelines to ingest, transform, and move mortgage data across cloud database systems and analytics platforms.

  • Optimize SQL queries, data models, and database structures to ensure high availability, scalability, and fast execution for operational reporting.

  • Partner closely with internal business stakeholders (Sales, Processing, Underwriting, and Executive teams) to deliver reliable data models that feed reporting dashboards and business metrics.

  • Monitor data integrity, troubleshoot data pipeline failures, and implement automated data checks to maintain strict compliance and accuracy across mortgage systems.

  • Participate in daily technology team standups, document data architecture, and adapt quickly to shifting business priorities.

Compensation: $100K - $105K annually
