“I can succeed as a Platform Engineer Lead at Capital Group.”
As a Platform Engineer Lead on our enterprise-wide technology team, you won’t just architect infrastructure—you’ll set the technical strategy and define the backbone of Capital Group’s cloud ecosystem. You’ll bring a strong developer background and a product-engineering mindset, treating internal capabilities as software products that are designed, built, tested, integrated, and evolved with the same rigor as customer-facing applications. You’ll own the automation, tooling, custom platform products, and integration patterns—spanning cloud account provisioning and vending, account lifecycle and self-service operations, estate management, product-onboarding orchestration, patching automation, APIs, data backends, and our Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration-automation engines—that thousands of engineers rely on every day to deliver business-critical applications at scale.
As the most senior individual contributor on the platform, you’ll operate with wide latitude and partner with senior leadership to move us from running today’s platform products to architecting the next generation of them. You’ll design new ways for internal customers to reach the cloud faster and more easily, embed FinOps, security, and governance controls by default, keep the platform healthy through disciplined Day 2 operations, build with AI and design for an increasingly agent-driven future, and multiply your impact by mentoring and coaching the engineers around you.
“I am the person Capital Group is looking for.”
-
You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
-
You have at least 10 years in Infrastructure Automation and/or Platform Engineering, including 8+ years leading the design, implementation, and governance of large-scale cloud platform and automation solutions
-
You have a strong software development background—designing, building, testing, and maintaining production-grade applications, services, APIs, or developer-facing platform products—with 6+ years of expert-level Terraform/OpenTofu/CDK and strong GoLang for custom providers, tooling, and integrations
-
You have proven experience architecting, extending, and maintaining self-service platform products—account provisioning/vending, portals, APIs, data backends, lifecycle and estate management, and paved-road onboarding that lower the cloud-expertise bar for internal customers
-
You are an expert in Day 2 operations at scale—lifecycle management, patching, drift detection/remediation, capacity and cost management, observability, and incident/problem management—with FinOps, security, and governance controls embedded by default
-
You have deep technical breadth across Linux, cloud networking (DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, container networking), Kubernetes, IAM design, TLS/KMS, and OAuth/SAML integration patterns, plus advanced Python, PowerShell, and Bash and CI/CD automation
-
You use AI-assisted engineering to improve delivery, automation quality, and operational efficiency, and have a working understanding of agentic application architecture
-
You mentor senior engineers, influence without formal authority, and define enterprise-wide standards—with Agile/SCRUM product delivery experience and exceptional communication, collaboration, and executive-engagement skills
