About the Role

We are seeking a

Senior Platform Software Engineer

to build and enhance scalable backend services supporting

3D positioning and IoT solutions

. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on

AWS, Python, distributed microservices, and real-time systems

, with ownership across design, development, testing, and deployment.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced Agile startup environment and bring strong system design, performance optimization, and technical leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable platform services within

    AWS

    .

  • Build robust, fault-tolerant

    Python-based backend services

    supporting 3D positioning and IoT integrations.

  • Develop and integrate

    REST and WebSocket microservices

    using OpenAPI specifications.

  • Collaborate with frontend and edge software engineering teams.

  • Monitor service metrics and identify opportunities to improve performance and reliability.

  • Drive improvements to development processes, system quality, and cloud cost efficiency.

  • Own projects end-to-end, from requirements and architecture through deployment and ongoing improvement.

  • Evaluate architectural trade-offs related to APIs, data scaling, infrastructure, and distributed components.

  • Contribute to technical design decisions and engineering best practices.

  • Work effectively within an Agile team operating in the US Pacific Time Zone.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with

    AWS

    , including:

  • ECS/EKS

  • Kinesis/Kafka

  • RDS/PostgreSQL

  • Proven experience developing scalable, fault-tolerant

    distributed microservices using Python

    .

  • Hands-on experience with

    CI/CD

    , GitHub, and automated testing.

  • Experience with

    PyUnit and/or Pytest

    .

  • Strong knowledge of

    Git/version control

    .

  • Experience developing in

    Linux/Unix environments

    .

  • Strong system design capabilities, including:

  • Requirements gathering

  • Data scaling

  • API definition

  • Architecture evaluation and trade-offs

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • Experience with

    OpenAPI, Grafana, Prometheus

    , and microservice architecture frameworks.

  • Experience debugging complex applications, including

    performance tuning and profiling

    .

  • Knowledge of distributed data persistence and processing systems.

  • Hands-on

    Terraform

    experience for cloud deployment and infrastructure management.

  • Experience with

    JIRA

    or similar project management tools.

  • Technical leadership, mentoring, and team guidance experience.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Exposure to

    AI/ML projects

    , including Agentic AI, MCP servers, or model development.

  • Experience with

    FastAPI

    .

  • Experience supporting

    IoT device management

    workflows.

  • Experience across machine learning workflows such as data labeling, feature engineering, model training, tuning, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Web or mobile development experience with technologies such as

    NestJS, React, CSS, JavaScript, REST, and JSON
