Job description

Find the right problem. Test the right theory. Build the right thing.

Spinwheel is on a mission to reinvent how consumers manage debt, make lending work for them, and move faster than anyone thinks possible. Our platform helps people save time, money, and stress by delivering the tools and intelligence needed to improve financial outcomes.

We're hiring a Principal Product Manager, Discovery & Growth, to independently define and drive the discovery motion for Spinwheel's future product roadmap. This is a Principal level individual contributor role for someone who has already run this kind of function, not someone learning to. You'll set the strategy for how we find, validate, and prove out net-new product and revenue opportunities before they compete for core roadmap investment, and you'll operate with minimal oversight in doing it. This role exists so that new bets get tested with rigor without derailing the core product organization, and so that nothing moves to full build without a proven connection to revenue. You'll report directly to the Head of Product and be trusted to run the full discovery-to-launch pipeline as its owner, not its executor.

What You'll Do

  • Set the strategy and process for how Spinwheel finds unmet needs and whitespace in debt, lending, and consumer finance, spending real time with customers, prospects, internal teams, and market data to do it

  • Independently shape raw opportunities into testable hypotheses and design the lean experiments (prototypes, concierge MVPs, pilots) that validate or kill them fast, without needing a playbook handed to you

  • Build and present the business case for validated opportunities, including the revenue hypothesis and evidence, and drive joint go/no-go decisions with Product and Sales leadership

  • Own full 0-to-1 execution end to end for anything that clears the gate, from launch through growth, making the calls on scope, sequencing, and trade-offs yourself

  • Instrument products from day one and define what good measurement looks like for a bet at this stage of maturity

  • Track post-launch performance against your original revenue hypothesis and turn every bet, proven or not, into an institutional lesson the broader product org can use

  • Own and evolve a standing log of active opportunity hypotheses and their stage, visible to Product and Revenue leadership, as a management tool you use to run the function

  • Act as the senior voice on industry trends, regulatory shifts, and adjacent market dynamics that could open new doors, and shape how Spinwheel thinks about them

What Success Looks Like

  • You surface 2-3 high-conviction opportunities per quarter that the team didn't have on their radar, and your judgment on what's worth testing is trusted without much second-guessing

  • You kill bad ideas fast and early, and your track record on when to kill versus back an idea becomes a reference point for the broader org

  • You launch multiple net-new revenue-driving products or capabilities from 0-to-1 in your first year, run largely on your own judgment

  • You become the senior connective tissue between customer reality and product strategy, shaping how leadership thinks about where to place bets

  • Revenue and retention metrics improve because the problems you chose to solve mattered, and other teams start pointing to your process as the model for derisking new ideas

You're a Fit If You

  • Have 8+ years in product management with a track record of owning outcomes at a senior or director level, including at least 3 years in fintech (debt, payments, credit, or lending a strong plus) building B2B products for enterprise customers.

  • Have led 0-to-1 builds multiple times, ideally including at least one where you built and owned the discovery process itself, not just the execution

  • Have deep, demonstrated rigor in testing unproven ideas and know when to kill an idea as confidently as when to back one, with real bets to point to on both sides

  • Are equally comfortable running a customer conversation, defending a recommendation with data in front of executive leadership, and working directly with engineers

  • Have operated as a senior IC or leader at a small, fast-growing company, and are comfortable setting direction with limited structure around you

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with regulated financial environments (FCRA, UDAAP, TILA)

  • Fluency with SQL and experiment design (A/B tests, cohort analysis)

Details

  • Reports to: Head of Product

  • Location: Fully remote, US or Canada

What We Offer

Competitive compensation and early-stage equity, so you have real upside as we grow. Comprehensive health benefits. A fully remote team, with the whole company coming together in person twice a year. We've hosted in places like Costa Rica, Chicago, San Diego, Mexico City, and Banff, real time together, not just another Zoom call.

We're early stage, so our benefits are still evolving. What we can offer today is a genuine stake in what we're building, a team that invests in being together in person, and the trust to do your best work from wherever you are.
