Job description

TELUS Health is empowering every person to live their healthiest life. Guided by our vision, we are leveraging the power of our leading edge technology and focusing on the uniqueness of each individual to create the future of health. As a global-leading health and well-being provider – encompassing physical, mental and financial health – TELUS Health is improving health outcomes for consumers, patients, healthcare professionals, employers and employees.

Join our team and what we'll accomplish together

Imagine shaping the future of retirement and benefits for millions of people across North America—and actually seeing your vision come to life.

At TELUS Health, we're modernizing Group Benefits Administration. We're not just updating technology; we're fundamentally rethinking how employers deliver benefits that truly matter to their workforce. From the latest compliance challenges to evolving U.S. market demands, we're building solutions that set the standard across the continent.

As Product Portfolio Manager, you'll own the strategic direction of our entire Group Benefits Administration portfolio—setting the vision, steering investment decisions, and partnering with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Operations, Sales, and Delivery. You'll work across a complex, matrixed organization where your judgment directly influences which modernization initiatives move forward, where we take calculated risks, and how we stay ahead of regulatory and competitive pressures.

This is a senior role for someone who thrives at enterprise scale and wants to leave a lasting impact on how benefits are delivered across North America.

What You'll Do

Portfolio Vision & Strategy

  • Define and maintain a unified portfolio vision that addresses the unique regulatory, compliance, and market needs across Canada and especially the U.S. Group Benefits landscape

  • Develop multi-year roadmaps that balance innovation, client commitments, modernization investments, and regulatory requirements

  • Make tough prioritization calls—deciding where to invest, what to standardize, and how to reduce platform fragmentation without losing market competitiveness

  • Work collaboratively with Product Managers and Architects to translate strategy into executable plans

Platform Alignment & Modernization

  • Partner closely with Engineering and Architecture leaders to ensure your portfolio strategy drives real, scalable platform improvements

  • Oversee large-scale client migrations and platform modernization initiatives—defining readiness gates, success metrics, and governance checkpoints

  • Drive consistency across products to reduce complexity while managing both short-term client needs and long-term platform health

Stakeholder Leadership

  • Serve as the senior product leader for cross-functional stakeholders—communicating complex portfolio topics to executives and enabling informed, strategic decision-making

  • Support channel and carrier partnerships by aligning product roadmaps with market opportunities and partner enablement needs

  • Position our solutions in the market, translating portfolio strategy into compelling client and partner narratives

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure portfolio strategies align with evolving North American regulatory, legislative, privacy, and security requirements

  • Proactively identify and manage portfolio-level risks—scalability challenges, data integrity, support models, and delivery risks

  • Monitor and communicate portfolio health metrics, including platform stability, modernization progress, and delivery risk

A typical week:

You'll likely spend time in stakeholder alignment meetings (working across distributed product, technology, and delivery teams), digging into business cases for major modernization investments, collaborating with your Architecture partner on target-state platform direction, and communicating trade-offs and priorities to senior leadership. You'll also work hands-on with product managers to review emerging roadmap items and with partners to understand market pressures and opportunities.

What you bring

Must-haves

  • 10+ years in Product Management, Product Portfolio Management, or Platform Leadership roles, ideally in enterprise, complex environments

  • Deep expertise in Group Benefits Administration, with particular strength and knowledge of the U.S. market, legislation, and compliance landscape

  • Proven track record leading multi-product portfolios with the ability to think and operate at enterprise scale

  • Experience overseeing modernization and large-scale migration programs, including managing legacy platforms, multi-tenant complexity, and change at scale

  • Strong executive-level communication skills and proven ability to influence across matrixed organizations with distributed ownership models

  • Sound judgment in prioritization and trade-off decisions—you're comfortable making tough calls and explaining the "why" to senior stakeholders

  • Working knowledge of North American regulatory and compliance environments, with demonstrated expertise in U.S. Group Benefits market requirements

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting channel and carrier partnerships (partner enablement, alignment of capabilities to market opportunities)

  • Background working closely with Architecture or Technology leadership on platform strategy

  • Experience defining governance models and operating frameworks across product portfolios

  • Familiarity with employer, carrier, and partner ecosystems across both public and private sector markets

Ready to lead portfolio strategy at enterprise scale? If you're energized by complexity, thrive in stakeholder-driven environments, and want to shape the future of benefits administration across North America, let's talk.
