Job description

MOTER Technologies, Inc. (“MOTER”) is unlocking the world of connected vehicle data to power innovative products and services for the automotive, mobility, and insurance industries. Our edge-computing-based advanced data analytics and software platform transforms vehicle data into actionable insights that drive the next generation of driver scoring, risk analytics, and insurance solutions.

MOTER is modernizing the insurance industry by equipping insurers with real-time vehicle insights to enhance underwriting, streamline claims, and improve risk assessment. To drive this transformation, MOTER is building white-labeled insurance products for some of the most recognized brands in the automotive industry. These offerings leverage the full suite of MOTER’s connected vehicle data solutions—including next-generation telematics and claims visualization tools—bridging the gap between automakers and insurers, accelerating innovation, and delivering measurable value across the mobility ecosystem.

JOB OVERVIEW

MOTER is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer (Frontend Leaning) to build and enhance the web interfaces used by its customers, along with the API services that support them. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring the ability to follow a feature end-to-end - from a React component through the BFF and GraphQL layers to the serverless services and data that power it.

The Senior Full Stack Engineer will work primarily in TypeScript, React, Redux, and Next.js, developing interfaces for the complex, data-rich telematics and insurance workflows at the center of MOTER’s platform. Approximately two-thirds of the role will focus on frontend development, with the remaining time dedicated to backend and platform work, including API contracts, Lambda-backed endpoints, AppSync and GraphQL resolvers, and the AWS infrastructure supporting these services.

This is AI-native engineering role. The Senior Full Stack Engineer will be expected to code generation, refactoring, test scaffolding, and other implementation work through AI coding agents. The engineer will be responsible for effectively decomposing work for agents, reviewing and strengthening their output, validating functionality, and maintaining ownership of the reliability, security, accessibility, and maintainability of the resulting code.

The Senior Full Stack Engineer will collaborate with product, design, backend, and platform teams, and will report to the Director of Engineering.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Frontend Engineering & Product Development

  • Build, ship, and maintain features across MOTER’s web applications, owning work from design through production support.

  • Partner with product and design to translate requirements into intuitive, high-quality user experiences, including responsive behavior, accessibility, error handling, loading states, and edge cases.

  • Contribute to frontend architecture, including component structure, state management, rendering, and data-fetching strategies.

  • Prototype solutions quickly, evaluate tradeoffs, and harden a prototype for production.

Full-Stack & API Ownership

  • Extend and maintain the BFF and API layer supporting the web application, including endpoint and contract design, authentication flows, pagination, caching, and error handling in partnership with backend and platform engineers.

  • Develop and maintain serverless services on AWS, including Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync, DynamoDB, S3, and Step Functions, with a focus on security, reliability, and cost efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across the frontend, APIs, and data store, identifying and addressing root causes end to end.

  • Design resilient client-side behavior to handle loading failures, stale data, retries, and degraded backend conditions.

  • Contribute to Terraform-managed infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to support safe and efficient deployments.

Design Systems, Accessibility & Quality

  • Extend and evolve MOTER’s component library and frontend patterns in partnership with design.

  • Build accessible, intuitive interfaces using semantic HTML, keyboard support, focus management, and practical assistive technology testing.

  • Write and maintain meaningful tests across unit, component, and end-to-end tests while maintaining a high standard for quality and documentation through code review.

Performance & Observability

  • Optimize application performance, including Core Web Vitals, bundle size, responsiveness, and runtime reliability.

  • Make appropriate rendering decisions across server-side rendering, static generation, and client-side interactivity based on product needs.

  • Implement effectively through error tracking, structured logging, distributed tracing, and product analytics using tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or AWS CloudWatch.

AI-Native Engineering

  • Take full ownership of the quality, security, reliability, and maintainability of code produced with AI-assisted development tools.

  • Apply appropriate review, testing, and validation practices when using AI coding agents.

  • Identify opportunities to use AI to improve development, debugging , and engineering productivity while maintaining appropriate safeguards.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Collaborate within agile pods and feature teams through sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, and retrospectives to deliver high-quality features on schedule.

  • Mentor and support engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and pairing, helping teammates across the frontend/backend stack.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 4 years focused on production frontend development.

  • Strong production experience with TypeScript, React, and Next.js or a comparable modern React framework, including modern frontend architecture patterns.

  • Strong foundation in HTML, CSS, accessibility, and web performance.

  • Experience building high-quality, data-rich interfaces for complex workflows or multi-step product experiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to work across the frontend and backend stack, including GraphQL or RESTful APIs, integration patterns, and authentication flows.

  • Production experience with at least one server-side language such as Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, or Go. Experience with moder Java is a plus, as MOTER’s backend services are built in modern Java on AWS.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS, particularly serverless services that support Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, or Cognito.

  • Working knowledge of Terraform, including reviewing and safely contributing to production infrastructure changes.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent) and modern release practices.

  • Solid understanding of frontend and application observability, including error tracking, analytics, structured logging, and production debugging workflows.

  • Practical experience using AI-assisted coding tools and agents, with sound judgment regarding their appropriate use, review, and validation.

  • Solid grounding in software engineering fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and system design.

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers, contributing to technical decisions, and raising engineering standards.

  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams and collaborating effectively with Product Owners.
