Job description

Senior Product Manager

Lightspeed Systems is on a mission to ensure a safe, secure, equitable, and effective learning environment for K-12 students. To aid in this mission, we're looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to drive high-level product initiatives from inception through execution, working closely with engineering to solve schools' device and content challenges.

Do you want to work hard alongside smart, talented product managers and engineers every day? Do you thrive when things get complex, and stay steady when a project is anything but simple? As a Senior Product Manager on our team, you'd have the chance to dig into those challenges directly — researching customer and market needs, working across departments, and driving a product from idea to shipped, adopted, and measured impact.

We are a cloud-based SaaS/web company, with devices, mobile apps, and web filtering technology at the core of what we build.

About the Role

  • Own the roadmap and strategy for your product area, and be accountable for the outcomes it delivers — not just the activities that go into it.

  • Build deep empathy for customers — IT directors, educators, and students — and use that understanding to define problems worth solving.

  • Be the internal evangelist for your product: align marketing, sales, support, engineering, and leadership around a shared direction, and earn their buy-in.

  • Maintain a well-prioritized backlog backed by clear requirements, designs, and acceptance criteria your development team can act on.

  • Drive execution across engineering, adapting process to what the team and the moment actually need to execute.

  • Set baselines and track KPIs so you — and the business — know whether a launch actually worked.

  • Oversee customer hand-off, acceptance testing, and post-launch monitoring so feedback loops back into the roadmap.

  • Develop subject-matter expertise in K-12 filtering and safety technology, market challenges, and the broader student-safety landscape.

  • Use AI tools and workflows to work faster and better across the product lifecycle — from research and requirements to specs, design, documentation, and data analysis — and bring that practice to the team.

What Matters to Us

We're building a product team where collaboration, ownership, and accountability aren't just values on a wall — they're how we work day to day. You default to bringing others in rather than working in a silo, you treat outcomes as yours to own even when the work is shared, and you follow through on commitments without needing to be chased.

About You

  • 5–7+ years of experience in product management or an adjacent discipline.

  • A track record of owning a product or product line end-to-end — with strong examples demonstrating execution and impact.

  • Practical, hands-on experience using AI tools to improve how you work across the product and software development lifecycle (e.g., research synthesis, requirements drafting, prototyping, data analysis, etc.) — not just familiarity with the concept.

  • Genuine motivation to make an impact for students and the educators who support them — this isn't just another SaaS vertical to you.

  • Strong written and verbal communication; you can make a technical or strategic case to executives and a development team with equal clarity.

  • Comfortable moving between full autonomy and close collaboration, and adjusting your approach as a project's needs change.

  • Skilled at holistic, design-thinking-style problem solving, with real attention to detail — you catch the stuff others miss.

  • Able to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once, from early concept through delivery, in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Direct, low-fluff communicator — you get to the point in writing and in meetings, and have little patience for buzzword-driven thinking.

  • Decisive under ambiguity — comfortable making a call and moving forward with incomplete information rather than waiting for certainty.

  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats on a lean team and jumping in to help on cross-functional projects to drive everyone towards a goal.

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the K-12 or broader education industry.

  • B2B product management experience.

  • Experience with technically complex products.

  • Experience designing and implementing AI features at scale.
