CFD Research is seeking a Senior Software Developer to lead efforts within a multidisciplinary team building cutting-edge tools to analyze, reduce, and visualize complex simulation data for missile defense systems. This role focuses on driving Post-Test Analysis (PTA) architecture, leading trade studies, architecting automated test frameworks, and guiding Agile software delivery. Partnering with customer software development leadership, you will architect solutions to accelerate test-case generation, ensure data validation accuracy for formal test events, and optimize system resource utilization across complex software suites.
Key Responsibilities

Lead trade studies to evaluate and select potential PTA tools, presenting strategic recommendations to senior leadership; define Concept of Operations (CONOPs), test procedures, and message/data validation standards.

Drive feature backlog prioritization and architecture in Jira alongside the GSD team; design, implement, and review complex PTA codebases to automate end-to-end test-step validation.

Architect automated input generation frameworks to dramatically boost the speed, scale, and efficiency of building complex test cases.

Spearhead technical progress demos of working test scripts, establish code quality and peer review standards, and author user guides and documentation on analysis best practices.
Basic Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship required; must possess and maintain an active DoD SECRET Clearance

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math/Statistics, Physics, or a related STEM discipline with 8+ years of software engineering experience

Advanced programming skills in Python, MATLAB, and C++ with a proven track record of designing extensible, multi-language software architectures

Deep experience in object-oriented design patterns, software architecture, and system design

Proficiency with enterprise version control systems, CI/CD workflows, and Git repository management

Proven ability to lead technical trade studies, present complex architectural recommendations to executive stakeholders, and mentor team members through technical demos and reviews
Preferred Qualifications

Extensive experience leading Agile software teams (Jira) and architecting enterprise software tools for data validation, script automation, or requirements verification

Domain experience with missile defense simulation/test architectures

Hands-on expertise architecting containerized environments (Docker) and embedding Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies across teams

Mastery of Python data science stacks (pandas, scipy, scikit-learn) and interactive visualization frameworks (Matplotlib, Plotly, Dash) for high-dimensional data reduction, modeling, and automated reporting
Location: This role is based in the Huntsville, ALarea, and is 100% onsite.
