Job description

  • We’re looking for talented and versatile Product Engineers to join our team. In this role, you’ll build end-to-end products — from front-end interfaces through the APIs and services that power them — that make sophisticated workflows simple for our users. You’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to translate complex requirements into elegant, high-quality experiences, moving fluidly across the stack to get the job done

  • We are looking for talented Engineers who bring strong technical depth in React and TypeScript (and are comfortable working further down the stack when needed), a sharp product sense, and a passion for building software that makes sophisticated workflows feel intuitive

  • Build, ship, and maintain high-quality product features with full ownership from design through production, working across the front end and, as needed, the services that support it

  • Enable operations teams to move fast by building the right abstractions and tools that provide safe use of agent workflows

  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and engineers to define and implement solutions that push the product forward

  • Contribute to architecture decisions across the stack — advocating for scalability, maintainability, and clean code principles

  • Drive best practices for accessibility, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility within your team

  • Design and build APIs and services where a feature calls for it, ensuring a clean contract between front end and back end

  • Participate in and contribute to code reviews, raising the quality bar across the codebase

  • Proactively identify technical challenges and propose solutions to improve the product engineering ecosystem

  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance and production issues across the stack

  • Work a hybrid schedule with at least three days per week in San Francisco, CA office or in our New York City office

Benefits

  • Health: Snorkelers and their dependents are covered by comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans.

  • Wellness: All Snorkelers get a yearly wellness stipend to use on anything related to health and well-being.

  • PTO and rest days: We provide unlimited personal time off so you can find your work-life balance. Plus, two company-wide rest days per quarter in addition to company holidays.

  • One global team: From our headquarters in Redwood City, CA, to regional offices in San Francisco and New York, we work together as one global team.

  • Events: Get to know your fellow Snorkelers outside of work! We host regular events and learning opportunities for our teams across our offices and virtually to connect, have fun, and grow.

  • Family leave: Snorkel offers generous parental leave for both birthing and non-birthing parents based on eligibility.- Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, React Context API)

  • Ability to prototype and iterate quickly on sophisticated user workflows

  • Experience collaborating in an agile, cross-functional team environment

  • Comfortable working independently and making scoped technical decisions

  • Experience with responsive design, adaptive design, and accessibility standards (WCAG)

  • 4+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with strong depth in React and TypeScript and solid full-stack or front-end fundamentals

  • Proven track record delivering high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code in a product environment

  • Strong communication skills — able to articulate technical decisions clearly to cross-functional partners

  • Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and modern CSS frameworks (e.g., Tailwind)

  • Comfort designing and consuming RESTful APIs, and enough back-end fluency (Node.js, Python, or similar) to build or extend a service when a feature requires it

  • We are hiring for Product Engineers at several levels, but the core experience is below:

  • Experience owning a feature across the full stack, from database or service layer through UI

  • Prior work in developer tools or data-heavy product environments

  • Familiarity with server-side rendering frameworks (e.g., Next.js)

  • Experience with performance optimization for web applications

  • Experience with design systems and building reusable component libraries
