Role Description
As a Software Engineer at Provenance, you will design, develop, and maintain backend services and core application features that power automated analysis of financial models and presentations. You will write clean, scalable code, implement APIs, and integrate data sources to support accurate change-tracking and impact reporting. Day-to-day, you will collaborate with product and engineering teammates to refine requirements, perform code reviews, improve system performance, and ensure reliability in production environments. You will also participate in testing, debugging, and documenting software components, while contributing to architectural discussions and continuous improvement of the engineering stack. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Boston, NYC, or SF in one of our offices.
Qualifications

Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

Hands-on experience in Software Development and Programming, with proficiency in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, or similar).

Skills in Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and server-side frameworks.

Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and best practices for building modular, maintainable systems.

Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site environment, communicate clearly, and participate in peer code reviews.

Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) is beneficial.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Experience with data-centric applications, financial systems, or analytical tools is a plus.
