About This Role
We are seeking a hands-on Software/Embedded Systems Engineer to join our UAS development team. This role focuses primarily on developing C++ software running on embedded Linux platforms, integrating sensors and avionics, and working closely with hardware. Candidates should be comfortable working directly with physical systems, performing hardware/software integration, and developing applications using frameworks such as ROS/ROS2. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys practical engineering, system-level debugging, contributing to advanced UAS capabilities, and supporting both next-generation technologies and proven platforms used to protect deployed warfighters.
Responsibilities

Develop and maintain C++ software for UAS systems running on embedded Linux platforms.

Implement and integrate ROS/ROS2 nodes for autonomy, perception, control, mission management, or sensor handling.

Participate in software development across all phases of the lifecycle—from concept development through lab integration, evaluation, and field testing.

Perform hands-on hardware integration, including connecting sensors, payloads, communication modules, compute hardware, and embedded control systems.

Troubleshoot system-level issues involving software, hardware interfaces, networking, and real-time constraints.

Work cohesively on multi-functional teams to deliver reliable, performant, and well-validated system functionality under dynamic, fast-paced program needs.

Participate in design reviews and contribute to software architecture, system design improvements, and development best practices.
Qualifications
Level I:
- Currently pursuing or completed B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
Required Skills

Strong proficiency in C++.

Experience developing on embedded Linux platforms.

Ability to debug complex system interactions across hardware and software.
-
Understanding of embedded systems concepts (I/O interfaces, timing, networking, real-time application considerations).

Familiarity with software configuration management, defect tracking, and continuous integration tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins).

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
Desired Qualifications

Experience with UAS, autopilots, and integration (PX4, ArduPilot)

Experience working with ROS/ROS2.

Demonstrated hands-on hardware experience (sensor integration, interfaces, debugging, lab equipment usage)

Experience coding in Python

Experience in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, and machine learning techniques.

Practical experience implementing or optimizing CV/ML models using frameworks such as OpenCV, TensorRT, TensorFlow/Keras/TensorFlow Lite, PyTorch, OpenVINO, or similar.

Experience building and maintaining toolchains for automated builds and deployments.

Strong understanding of automated testing and CI/CD processes.

Ability to work with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers and emulators
