Position Summary
Work under the direction of the Finance Administrator and serve as support for the Budget & Finance department, including but not limited to preparing/submitting deposits, cutting checks for Narcotics/Alert, maintaining the Property Seizure Program, performing advanced professional accounting, maintaining receipts records, reviewing and submitting procurement card statements, reconciliations of budget accounts, and to perform related duties as assigned within the Sheriff Office.
Pay Grade: 52
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of experience in accounting; AND
-
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, public or business administration; or a closely related field; OR
-
An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.

PROOF OF EDUCATION; TRAINING; AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities

Maintains accurate accounting records for Narcotics and Alert, ensuring that all seizures and vehicle settlements are correctly entered in accordance with the Notice of Seizure and the court order.

Keeps records of cash receipts into the Property Seizure program from settlements, Narcotics and Alert Divisions, Criminal History Records & Identification, Bureau of Professional Standard and Integrity, State of Tennessee, Probate Court, Criminal Court, and General Sessions.

Prepares divisions' periodic schedules by comparing actual expenditures to budgetary appropriations.

Processes procurement card purchases and ensures compliance with the related policies and procedures.

Prepares and submits daily deposits via Regions OnePass.

Collects, analyzes, reconciles, and produces monthly board bills for USMS, HOA/DCS, and updating data to applicable systems.

Analyzes monthly operating statements for all divisions.

Provides specialized monthly accounting reports assigned by the Administrator.

Develops timelines to ensure work activities stay within projected implementation schedules.

Maintains an open line of communication with internal and external customers and provides status updates to the Administrator on assigned activities.

Composes correspondence regarding technical accounting problems.

Performs other related duties as required.

Thorough knowledge of accounting theory and practices.

Skilled in budgeting, fiscal management, and purchasing procedures.

Skilled in utilizing word processing and spreadsheet software (Word, Excel, and Access).
