Job description

** Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance across multiple business lines and legal entities within the Morales Capital Group portfolio. This role plays a key part in the month-end close process, preparing reconciliations, maintaining schedules, and recording entries for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, leases, and key balance sheet accounts.

 

The Accountant supports the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for internal leadership and external stakeholders, while also responding to ad-hoc reporting needs from management, auditors, banks, and regulatory agencies. In addition, this position assists with the annual budgeting process and collaborates across departments to gather data and explain financial results.

 

The role also contributes to audit readiness and compliance by supporting annual financial and bank audits and preparing multi-state compliance reports. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

** DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES **

** Month-End Close **

  • Prepare and complete bank reconciliations across multiple business lines and legal entities.

  • Maintain and reconcile prepaid expense schedules and ensure timely amortization.

  • Record and reconcile fixed assets, including depreciation schedules and asset additions/disposals.

  • Assist with lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842, including journal entries and reconciliation.

  • Reconcile and analyze key balance sheet accounts including reserve and accrual balances.

 

** Financial Reporting **

  • Assist in compiling the monthly financial reporting package for internal management use and external stakeholders.

  • Support ad-hoc reporting needs for company management, banks, governmental agencies, and external auditors.

  • Work collaboratively across departments to gather data and explain financial results.

  • Support the annual budget cycle for the various entities of Morales Capital Group portfolio.

 

** Audit & Compliance **

  • Provide support for bank audits and annual financial audits

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly multi-state compliance reports.

** QUALIFICATIONS **

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

  • 2-5 years of relevant accounting experience

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP, experience with ASC 842

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP bank reconciliation modules. (e.g. Encompass, NetSuite, or similar).

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Experience supporting audit and preparing workpapers

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Exceptional customer service aptitude
