Job Description:

Position Title: Accountant

Position Type: Salary

Reports To: Financial Controller

Location: Mayodan, NC (full-time, onsite)

Department: Finance

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the manufacturing facility through monitoring of accounts payable, payroll administration, and financial analysis. This role ensures vendor invoices, employee compensation, and financial transactions are processed in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. The Staff Accountant works closely with operations, human resources, and finance leadership to maintain financial accuracy, support compliance requirements, and provide analytical insights that assist in operational and business decision-making. This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain accounts payable, including invoice entering and review, coding, approval tracking, and vendor payments

  • Communicate proactively with vendor contacts to ensure current status of Ruger payable accounts and strong vendor relationships

  • Administer weekly or semi-monthly payroll for both salaried and hourly employees, ensuring accurate and timely compensation

  • Reconcile payroll, benefits, and related general ledger accounts.

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results

  • Support external audits by maintaining and producing financial documents as needed to ensure a successful audit result

  • Support ad hoc financial analyses to identify cost efficiency opportunities and support operations with relevant and timely reporting

  • Assist with ongoing Oracle system implementation to ensure continuity of accounting processes and implement efficiency improvements

**Qualifications

Education & Certification**

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

Experience

  • Base-level accounting or finance experience, with experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) or a comparable ERP system is a plus

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word)

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to partner across functions.

  • High ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality, compliance, and accountability.

  • Reports to: Financial Controller

  • Direct Reports: None

  • Internal Relationships: Factory Management, Operations, Supply Chain, and Corporate Finance

  • External Relationships: Vendors and auditors
