Job description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
1. Assumes responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of assigned accounting functions.
a. Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and other reports for Executive Management and Board of Directors.
b. Prepares monthly cash flow reports.
c. Prepares monthly Branch profitability reports.
d. Prepares daily cash position report for management review.
e. Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
f. Reconciliation of Credit Union Cash Accounts.
g. Reconciliation of ACH system.
h. Reviews and verify the accuracy of journal entries.
i. Research and resolve journal posting errors.
j. Prepare audit documentation as requested.
k. Prepares and document NCUA 5300 Call Report.
l. Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information for various departments including Lending and Collections.
m. Abstracts and consolidate data from various sources for reporting and third-party system
uploads.
n. Assists in the implementation and automation of reports, credit score migrations, and data
validation.
o. Completes accounting functions in accordance with established Credit Union policies and
procedures.
2. Assumes responsibility for effectively researching, tracking, and resolving accounting problems and discrepancies.
3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with area personnel and with management.
a. Maintains regular contact with other departments to obtain information and/or to correct transactions.
b. Assists accounting personnel as needed.
c. Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Reports the status of all account reconciliations to Management.
d. Attend and participate in meetings as required.
4. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
a. Ensures that the work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
b. Completes special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: College degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and procedures including accounting reconciliation.
Knowledge of related computer applications.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two to five years of previous accounting experience required, preferably in a credit union or financial institution.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Well organized and detail oriented.
Good math skills.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Cooperative and willing to assist others.
Able to use computer, calculator, and other basic business machines, as well as
related accounting software and programs.
Responsible for analyzing and reconciling detailed Credit Union accounts as assigned. Keeps records and accounts
accurate and current. Research and resolves discrepancies and accounting errors. Completes related reports,
summaries, and records. Performs related to administrative duties.
