Position Summary:
The Financial Accountant role is part of a team of professionals striving to produce accurate and timely financial reporting. The individual will support the finance department by managing daily accounting tasks of moderate difficulty.

Key Responsibilities
-
Demonstrate proficient knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), consolidation, and
-
Obtain knowledge of Steffes’ ERP and payroll processing systems and follow procedures required to maintain and generate necessary computer reports.
-
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in collaborative manner with customers, suppliers,co-workers, and management.
-
The following duties will be assigned as either primary responsibilities or backup/cross-training responsibilities:
-
Participate in the month-end close process by preparing accurate and timely journal entries and expense accruals.
-
Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform account analyses to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records and statements.
-
Monitor inventory-related accounting transactions and reconcile records related to stock movements.
-
Investigate and resolve inventory transaction discrepancies and manufacturing variances.
-
Process information related to biweekly payroll and census reporting.
-
Maintain fixed asset records. Track, capitalize, depreciate and dispose of property, equipment, and technology.
-
Evaluate and analyze purchase price variances and freight costs.
-
Ensure accurate and timely filing of state and federal compliance reports including sales and use tax, Secretary of State annual reports, personal property taxes, and vehicle registrations.

Prepare analytical reports and metrics in support of operational activities.
-
Draft required schedules and work papers for annual audits and external tax reporting functions.
-
Update/create standard operating procedures in accordance with company policies

Other duties or special projects as assigned.

Identify improvements to financial reporting processes.

Job Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
-
Three or more years of general or specialized accounting experience
-
Advanced Excel foundation and intermediate general computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet, Teams etc.)
-
Effective written and verbal communication skills
-
Possess a strong analytical mind, an eye for detail, and the ability to skillfully gather and analyze information
-
Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, make routine recommendations and suggest alternative solutions when appropriate.
-
Manufacturing and inventory management background preferred.
Functional & Cognitive Requirements of Position:

This position requires walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree.

Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 20 pounds.

Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.

Stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending.

Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.
