Overview:

National Cycle, Inc. is a family-owned American manufacturer that has operated in Maywood, Illinois, since 1937. We manufacture motorcycle windshields and accessories through National Cycle and advanced polycarbonate vehicle glazing through PCQ Technologies.

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Specialist who can manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities while helping the CFO improve our processes over time. The immediate focus will be reconciliations, discrepancy analysis, AP, AR and general ledger support to ensure our books are clean, current and accurate.

Longer term, this person will help document workflows, identify inefficient manual processes and support AP, AR and ERP automation. We need an accounting professional who is also highly comfortable with technology—not an IT professional with limited accounting experience.

This is a hands-on, in-person position inside our Maywood manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, dependable and willing to take ownership of problems through resolution.

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform bank, credit card, vendor, customer, and general ledger reconciliations; investigate discrepancies, aging items, coding errors, missing transactions, and control gaps.
Prepare correcting journal entries, reconciliation schedules, supporting documentation, and account analysis for month-end and year-end close.
Process vendor invoices using three-way matching and prepare check, ACH, and wire payments in accordance with approval and internal-control procedures.
Reconcile vendor statements, resolve billing issues, set up new vendors, maintain W-9 documentation, and support annual 1099 filing.
Maintain accurate accounts receivable records; process cash receipts and postings, respond to invoice requests, resolve customer discrepancies, and assist with collections.
Review employee credit card and expense reports for proper approval, documentation, and account coding.
Track construction in progress, self-constructed assets, fixed assets, and depreciation, including reconciliation of related general ledger accounts.
Maintain complete, organized, and audit-ready accounting records while working with vendors, customers, purchasing, receiving, and other departments to resolve issues.
Document and analyze AP, AR, and related accounting workflows to identify bottlenecks, duplicated effort, control risks, and opportunities for standardization or automation.
Partner with the CFO, accounting team, operational departments, and technology providers to define requirements and improve accounting processes.
Help evaluate, configure, test, and implement ERP features, integrations, reporting tools, and workflow automation, with a longer-term focus on AP and AR automation.
Validate automated processes for accuracy, approvals, exception handling, data integrity, and internal controls.
Develop repeatable reports and performance measures for reconciliations, closing, AP processing, collections, and exceptions.
Train employees on revised workflows and maintain current procedures as processes change.

Qualifications:

Accounts Payable, AR, and GL Experience
Willingness to learn and adapt to our ERP system, Sage X3.
Knowledge of 1099 processing
Vendor onboarding and W-9 collection
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational skills, initiative and resourcefulness.
Experience in the manufacturing sector a plus
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
