Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced

Senior Aerospace Cybersecurity Engineer

with strong hardware and embedded systems security expertise to support aerospace and defense programs.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in

aerospace cybersecurity, threat modeling, embedded systems security, hardware security, vulnerability management, cryptography, and secure development practices

. This role will work closely with engineering teams, customers, and federal/defense stakeholders to ensure cybersecurity requirements are addressed throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cybersecurity activities for aerospace and avionics programs.

  • Perform

    threat modeling, risk assessments, and cybersecurity architecture reviews

    .

  • Develop and implement security measures for embedded systems, controllers, avionics, and aircraft platforms.

  • Support

    secure boot, code signing, cryptography, and secure firmware update

    processes.

  • Conduct cybersecurity testing, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.

  • Support secure software and hardware development throughout the

    Secure Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

    .

  • Evaluate hardware security architectures, including

    root of trust

    concepts.

  • Identify, assess, and manage cybersecurity vulnerabilities and risks.

  • Support compliance with aerospace, federal, and defense cybersecurity requirements.

  • Review customer requirements, RFIs/RFQs, and contribute to technical proposals.

  • Participate in customer-facing technical discussions and cybersecurity reviews.

  • Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, and engineering teams.

  • Support laboratory-based cybersecurity testing and occasional on-site customer/aircraft assessments.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of cybersecurity engineering experience.

  • 3+ years of aerospace cybersecurity experience.

  • Strong experience with:

  • Aerospace threat modeling and risk assessments

  • Embedded systems security

  • Hardware security

  • Root of trust

  • Cryptography and code signing

  • Secure boot and firmware security

  • Vulnerability management

  • Secure Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

  • Knowledge of aerospace and cybersecurity standards, including:

  • DO-326A / ED-202A

  • DO-356A

  • NIST Cybersecurity Framework

  • FIPS 140-3

  • Experience supporting

    ITAR-controlled and/or federal aerospace programs

    .

  • Strong analytical, communication, and technical leadership skills.

  • Ability to work hands-on in a cybersecurity laboratory environment.

  • Willingness to travel up to

    10โ€“15%

    as required.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with

    FAA, DoD, defense, or commercial aerospace programs

    .

  • Knowledge of aircraft control systems and avionics.

  • Experience with aerospace hardware security architectures.

  • Experience working directly with customers, federal contractors, or defense organizations.

  • Experience with cybersecurity assessments and penetration testing of embedded systems.
