Agent Designer
Location:
Austin, Texas ( Hybrid / Remote)
Work Mode:
Up-to 60% Field-Present
Employment Type:
Full Time
Role Overview
You are one half of the core delivery pair. You and the Domain SME work as a self-organizing unit iterating together to build, configure, and refine agents in the field. You bring the technical expertise on implementing what the agency needs, how Masterworks agents can be deployed towards those goals and what good output looks like for a project controls or capital planning function. The Domain SME brings the deep industry knowledge. Agents emerge from that collaboration, not from a handoff.
This is not a traditional business analyst role, and it is not a requirements-writing role. You are a co-builder who happens to own the realization of the customer needs. You need enough Masterworks depth to know what is buildable, enough AI literacy to contribute meaningfully to configuration and training data decisions, and enough domain fluency to know when agent behaviour is right, and when it isn't.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborative Agent Development
-
Map agency workflows in structured detail capturing decision points, exception conditions, data inputs, and expected outputs and use that knowledge in real-time collaboration with the Domain SME to configure and deploy agents
-
Own training data quality: identify what labelled examples are needed, work with domain SMEs to produce or source them, and maintain quality standards across active deployments
-
Build and maintain data integrations between Masterworks and agency systems: scheduling tools, cost systems, financial management platforms, document management, GIS, and agency data warehouses
-
Work with agency IT staff, data stewards, and system administrators to navigate access, permissions, and integration constraints in government technology environments
-
Troubleshoot deployment issues in the field diagnosing root causes, implementing fixes, and documenting solutions for reuse across future deployments
Agent Configuration & Evaluation
-
Co-configure agents within Aurigo's agent-builder platform alongside the Domain SME writing prompts, defining workflow logic, setting output formats, and testing agent behaviour against expected outputs in the field
-
Own the evaluation framework for deployed agents: define what correct performance looks like for each agent on each customer's data, and lead the process of detecting and resolving performance gaps
-
Maintain agent configuration documentation, prompt libraries, and evaluation benchmarks across all active deployments
Candidate Profile
Required
-
5+ years in software implementation, solution architecture, or business analysis, working directly with customers in an embedded or consulting capacity
-
Hands-on experience with LLM-based tools, prompt engineering, or agentic workflow platforms
-
AI and ML literacy necessary to understand what a model needs to be trained on, what prompting accomplishes versus what fine-tuning accomplishes, and how to evaluate whether an agent's outputs are reliable
-
Comfort working in ambiguous field environments where requirements emerge from observation rather than from a pre-written specification
Preferred
-
Experience with structured data extraction
-
Prior involvement in AI proof-of-concept or automation projects within a capital program context
-
Familiarity with data labelling, annotation workflows, or training data quality processes
-
Experience with capital program platforms (e-Builder, InEight, Oracle Primavera, Procore)
