AO4 - Assistant Project Manager

Manunda, Cairns | 6-Month Contract | 2 Positions Available

Are you an experienced project administrator or project support professional looking to take the next step into project management?

Our client is seeking two Assistant Project Managers to join their team, supporting the delivery of road infrastructure projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a Queensland Government environment and gain valuable experience across project coordination, quality assurance, procurement, records management and continuous improvement.

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will provide a broad range of project and administrative support to assist the successful delivery of road infrastructure projects. You will work closely with project teams and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are well coordinated, documented and delivered in accordance with internal policies, procedures and governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide project coordination and administrative support to project teams

  • Develop and maintain project work packs, documentation, registers and databases

  • Support project delivery across scope, time, cost and quality requirements

  • Assist with quality assurance, safety and environmental management activities

  • Support procurement activities, including researching fit-for-purpose outcomes

  • Maintain accurate records and electronic document management systems

  • Manage project inboxes, correspondence, mail and courier requirements

  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of best-practice processes

  • Capture and share project outcomes, lessons learned and project knowledge

  • Coordinate in-house training and onboarding for new starters

  • Ensure information is managed appropriately and confidentially in accordance with legislative and departmental requirements

About You

We are looking for candidates with strong project administration, coordination or business support experience who are confident working in a structured government or corporate environment.

You'll bring:

  • Previous experience in project administration or project support

  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with document management, registers and databases

  • Proficiency across Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 and corporate systems

  • An understanding of governance, compliance and information management

  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team

  • Previous experience within government, infrastructure, construction or transport environments will be highly regarded

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Leadership and Management

  • Certificate IV in Project Management
