  • AU CSOL: this role is on the national occupation list. The posting doesn't state a salary we could check against the threshold.

Job description

The Opportunity

IAM Group operates across fixed income, private credit, and capital markets. The finance function supports a national business, and this role sits at the heart of it — keeping the books accurate, payments flowing, obligations met, and reporting on time. No two days are quite the same, and you’ll build broad, practical experience quickly.

This is a great opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to join a growing, ASX-listed financial services business and get genuine exposure to a full end-to-end accounting function from day one. You’ll work closely with the Financial Accountant, with direct visibility into the work of the CFO and the broader leadership team.

We’re not looking for financial services experience — we’re looking for someone sharp, diligent, and eager to grow. If you’re CA or CPA qualified (or working towards it) and have come through a public practice firm, you’ll be well set up for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Processing & Accounts Payable

• Process and manage the day-to-day accounts payable function, including invoice submission, coding, and approval via ProSpend

• Prepare and execute weekly payment runs across multiple entities

• Monitor and maintain the accounts inbox, ensuring timely action on incoming correspondence

• Upload and trace credit card transactions, matching claims to invoices and supporting approvals

Payroll

• Process monthly payroll across all entities, including ad hoc pay runs as required

• Manage payroll journals, PAYG monthly payments, and payroll tax calculations and lodgements

• Maintain leave provision journals (annual leave and long service leave) using Employment Hero data

• Handle intercompany payroll transfers where applicable

Bank Reconciliations & Cash Management

• Perform weekly bank reconciliations across multiple entity accounts

• Maintain and update the weekly cash flow report, including unpaid bills and FX rate updates

• Monitor cash positions daily to support treasury and operational requirements

Month End Close

• Prepare and post month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, and accrued income

• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and P&L reviews across multiple entities

• Maintain fixed asset workbooks and post depreciation and amortisation journals

• Process intercompany reconciliations and elimination journals

• Contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts and board reporting

Statutory Compliance & Lodgements

• Prepare and lodge quarterly BAS returns across multiple entities

• Assist with FBT reconciliation and annual lodgement

• Support payroll tax annual reconciliation and Workcover lodgements across relevant states

• Assist with half-year and full-year audit processes, including responding to auditor queries and supporting statutory account preparation

General & Ad Hoc Support

• Provide ad hoc office and administrative support as part of the Sydney team

• Liaise regularly with the operations team and other business units nationally

• Back up the weekly P&L and Reckon system as part of routine procedures

• Support ongoing improvements to finance processes and controls as the business grows

Key Relationships

• Financial Accountant — direct reporting line and day-to-day collaboration

• Chief Financial Officer — regular interaction and visibility on finance matters

• Leadership team — periodic engagement on reporting, compliance, and ad hoc requirements

• Operations team — regular national interaction on payments, reconciliations, and reporting

About You

You’re a detail-oriented, task-focused accountant who takes pride in accuracy and timeliness. You’re comfortable working through a structured set of responsibilities and keeping things on track, and you’re equally happy to roll up your sleeves when something ad hoc comes through.

You’ll Bring

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

• CA or CPA qualified, or actively progressing towards qualification

• Experience in a public accounting or professional services firm — this is a strong foundation we value

• Solid understanding of core accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping

• Familiarity with accounting systems (experience with Reckon is a bonus, but not essential)

• Confidence with payroll, BAS preparation, and accounts payable processes

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office software

You’re Known For Being

• Exceptionally detail-oriented — you catch things others miss and care about getting it right

• Organised and methodical, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines without dropping the ball

• A clear communicator — you keep the right people informed and flag issues early

• Proactive and reliable — you take ownership of your tasks and follow through

• A collaborative team member who builds good relationships across the business

Why Join IAM

• End-to-end accounting exposure from day one — across multiple entities and a full finance function

• Direct reporting line to a supportive Financial Accountant, with close access to the CFO and leadership team

• A growing ASX-listed business where your contribution is visible and valued

• Exposure to a national business with regular interaction across operations and commercial teams

• Competitive salary

• Hybrid working arrangements available

• Access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for personal and professional wellbeing

• A social, collaborative team culture with regular events throughout the year

• Support for CA/CPA progression and ongoing professional development
