- AU CSOL: this role is on the national occupation list. The posting doesn't state a salary we could check against the threshold.
Job description
We are seeking an Associate level Building Services Electrical Engineer to join a Tier One multidisciplinary consultancy in Brisbane. Anyone seeking a Technical Director role, or who feels they have the skills to step straight up to AD level, will also be considered.
Our client has around 2,000 staff nationally and close to 70 in the Brisbane Buildings team, covering every discipline and specialist area.
This is a close-knit team, with Seniors who have worked together for years. It might sound like a clichĂ©, but I can truthfully say the reason people stay is the people. And thatâs not just me saying it. It comes through on Glassdoor, and itâs what Iâve heard first-hand in personal conversations with many of their staff.
Letâs be upfront. Salaries might lag behind if youâre comparing them to mid-tier or small firms that can âthrow moneyâ at people. What you do get here in comparison is:
Support. Project resources are shared around, both locally and interstate, so youâre not carrying the load of the project and the staffing and business pressures as well, the way you would in a smaller firm.
Room to breathe. You can focus on delivering your project in a managed and calm way. No more massive overtime, stress or late nights. There are other people to share the load.
Projects. In a world where lots of Tier One firms are being enticed by the big money in data centres, our client takes a long-term view of the market, counter to the data centre âgold rushâ. They offer exposure to data centre projects without giving up complex and varied work. That means your skills wonât one day become obsolete because all youâve worked on is data centres. Not to mention that variety is the spice of life, or so they say!
Global backup with genuine overseas opportunities. Ask me about the engineer who went off to work with the company in Saudi, or the intermediate who came back from the UK after a few yearsâ rotation. Right now the need is here, but these are real opportunities that exist with a global firm.
Clarity. With fixed levels attached to specific role descriptions and experience, youâll be crystal clear on where your responsibilities start and finish. Youâll also know the other Associates or ADs arenât earning more (or less) because they negotiated harder for the role.
The role
Right now the need is for senior leadership in the 18-strong electrical team. You must have:
-
A Bachelorâs degree in Electrical Engineering; RPEQ or eligible
-
At least 8 yearsâ Building Services design/project experience
-
Experience as a Project Lead on large, complex building services projects, either leading a single discipline or smaller multidisciplinary projects
-
The confidence to be the person clients call: running meetings, managing expectations and building relationships that bring repeat work
-
A genuine interest in bringing others along: mentoring engineers, reviewing their work and lifting the technical standard of the team
The rest
All the bells and whistles youâd expect: flexibility, WFH, and maternity and paternity leave. Whether itâs a 9-day fortnight or something else your personal circumstances call for, nothing is off the table for discussion. Our client is committed to attracting the highest quality, most experienced electrical building services engineers in SE QLD. Candidates looking to relocate from interstate or NZ are welcome to apply.

ABOUT ME#SCR-mahlah-ludekens
I specialise exclusively in Building Services recruitment and have been working in this sector for over 24 years, building long-standing relationships with consultancies, contractors and developers across the industry.
Iâve spent over two decades recruiting exclusively within Building Services, so I understand the technical roles, the key firms in the market, and what makes a move worthwhile for people in this industry.
Over that time Iâve built a strong network across Australiaâs building services industry, including many consultancies and contractors youâll know â and quite a few you may not.
My role is simple: connecting the right people with the right opportunities. If this particular role isnât quite what you're looking for, feel free to get in touch anyway. I'm always happy to have a confidential conversation about the market, your career direction, and opportunities that may not yet be advertised.
All conversations are strictly confidential, and I'm always happy to provide an honest view of the market if you're simply curious about what opportunities might exist.
