Associate Product Designer
DW1
Job description
About DW1
DW1 is a nationwide jobsite management company built around a simple promise: one stop, one team, one source. We coordinate waste removal, construction rentals, equipment, storage, offices, sanitation, fencing, and related services so customers can keep projects moving with confidence.
Our technology team is modernizing the systems behind that experience. We are building enterprise software that simplifies complex operational work, connects people and data, and uses AI where it can create meaningful speed, clarity, and better decisions.
About the Role
This is not a traditional UI production role. You will work with product leaders, engineers, business experts, users, and AI tools to rethink workflows from first principles. You will create interfaces and interaction models that solve difficult business problems without defaulting to the familiar patterns of legacy enterprise software.
We are looking for a designer early in their career who prototypes quickly, learns visibly, communicates clearly, and treats AI as a normal part of the creative process. Your instinct should be to ask whether the user needs another screen, grid, field, or click at all.
What You Will Do
-
Design modern, responsive web and mobile experiences in Figma.
-
Use Zeplin or similar collaboration tools to present designs, document decisions, and collect feedback through design iterations.
-
Use AI tools daily to explore concepts, generate alternatives, accelerate research, and prototype interaction ideas.
-
Create user flows, wireframes, clickable prototypes, polished interfaces, and developer-ready specifications.
-
Partner directly with engineers to translate designs into production experiences and resolve implementation tradeoffs.
-
Rethink existing enterprise workflows from first principles rather than simply reskinning current screens.
-
Conduct lightweight discovery, user interviews, workflow observation, and usability testing.
-
Iterate using feedback, product analytics, operational outcomes, and technical constraints.
-
Contribute to an evolving design system while recognizing when a new problem requires a new pattern.
-
Stay current on AI-assisted design tools, agentic workflows, conversational interaction patterns, and emerging product-design practices.
What We Are Looking For
Required
-
Approximately 1-3 years of UI/UX or product-design experience. Internships, freelance work, and strong personal projects count.
-
A portfolio that demonstrates thoughtful problem-solving, not only polished final screens.
-
Strong working proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, prototyping, and responsive layouts.
-
Comfort using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Lovable, v0, Bolt, Midjourney, Microsoft Copilot, or comparable tools.
-
Understanding of responsive design, accessibility, interaction states, and design handoff.
-
Clear written and verbal communication, curiosity, humility, and a willingness to learn quickly.
Helpful experience
-
Designing AI-first, conversational, recommendation-based, or context-aware experiences.
-
Prompt engineering and structured experimentation with generative AI.
-
Design systems, motion design, micro-interactions, HTML/CSS, or frontend collaboration.
-
Enterprise SaaS, field-service, logistics, construction, rental, waste, ERP, CRM, or operational workflow products.
What Will Make You Stand Out
We are less interested in perfect pixels than in how you frame a problem, use available tools, and improve an idea through iteration. Strong portfolios will show examples where you:
-
Challenged the obvious solution or questioned an inherited workflow.
-
Simplified something complicated without hiding important information.
-
Used AI to improve the quality or speed of your design process.
-
Built something independently because you were curious about the problem.
-
Responded well to feedback and made the next version materially better.
-
Explained the tradeoffs behind the design, including what you chose not to build.
Our Product Design Philosophy
Enterprise software does not have to feel like enterprise software. We are moving beyond feature-first interfaces and inherited patterns that force people to adapt to the system. We are exploring experiences that adapt to the work.
MOVE BEYOND
-
Endless data grids
-
Forms with dozens of fields
-
Deep, multi-level navigation
-
Feature-first interfaces
-
Desktop-only assumptions
DESIGN TOWARD
-

What Success Looks Like in the First Six Months
-
Ship production-ready designs that improve a real user workflow.
-
Contribute reusable patterns to DW1’s evolving product design language.
-
Redesign at least one legacy enterprise workflow around user decisions and outcomes.
-
Become a trusted, responsive partner to engineering and product leadership.
-
Demonstrate a repeatable AI-assisted workflow for research, ideation, prototyping, and critique.
-
Bring fresh ideas that influence product direction while remaining grounded in user and business needs.
Why Join DW1
You will help shape products while they are still becoming products. The work is close to real users, real operations, and real business outcomes. DW1 values ownership, experimentation, follow-through, and practical creativity. We believe AI should amplify human judgment and imagination, not replace them.
If you are excited by the idea of building the next generation of enterprise software instead of copying the last generation, we would like to see how you think.
