As an Associate Project Accountant, you will support the financial administration of assigned projects from project setup through invoicing and collections. Working closely with project managers and clients, you will prepare accurate, timely invoices, monitor project financial information, and help resolve billing and collection issues. This role is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented professional looking to build project accounting expertise.

What You'll Do

  • Complete the billing cycle for assigned projects, preparing accurate and timely invoices in accordance with established processes and client and contract requirements.

  • Monitor project financial performance and review project setup, budgets, WIP, and billing needs with project managers.

  • Communicate with clients regarding invoices, questions, corrections, and required documentation, and track billing-related issues through resolution.

  • Support collection efforts and work with project managers to address aged WIP.

  • Participate in project review meetings and assist with month-end revenue review as needed.

  • Maintain organized, accurate project financial information and follow through on assigned tasks.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience.

Experience and Skills

  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to billing accuracy, and ability to organize and track multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.

  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.

  • Ability to identify and resolve routine issues within established processes and seek guidance when appropriate.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and the ability to learn ERP and project management systems.

Preferred Requirements

  • Internship or work experience in project accounting or billing, particularly within engineering, architecture, environmental consulting, or another professional services environment.

  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or another ERP system.
