The Bell AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom make up the US Marine Corps’ Light Attack Helicopter fleet, providing a vast array of mission critical capabilities to Marines and their allies. Avionics Embedded Software Development and Test Engineer

The Avionics Embedded Software Development and Test Engineer will be responsible for developing, modifying, testing and documenting embedded software environment requirements for military development programs, including managing and communicating requirements to internal and external customers

What you’ll be doing as an Avionics Software Engineer:

  • Apply engineering principles to investigate, design, develop, implement, test, and analyze embedded software for avionics systems.

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of static and dynamic test tools; preference for PC Lint, LDRA TestBed, and VectorCAST.

  • Apply software development lifecycle principles, including decomposing system requirements into software requirements and associated tests; preference for DOORS and requirements to test traceability.

  • Utilize multiple software development languages; preference for C, C , and C#.

  • Plan, support, and manage software integration projects to meet customer and program requirements.

  • Recommend design improvements and identify opportunities for capability enhancements in integrated weapon systems.

Qualifications

Skills You Bring To This Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred. Other engineering degrees may be considered with sufficient software development experience.

  • Minimum 2 years aviation experience in Avionics Platform Systems Integration OR Avionics Hardware Design & Integration.

  • Experience in developing embedded software, including hardware and software Integration with C, C , and C# in a Linux development environment. Experience with assembly language is a plus

  • Experience with object-oriented programming and basic understanding of scripting languages (e.g., bash, batch).

  • Familiarity with military aerospace design and verification processes, including requirements development and verification, preliminary design, and detailed design. Familiar with DO 178B and CMMI Level 3 processes.

  • Experience with LDRA and VectorCAST development tools preferred. Experience with Serena Dimensions (PVCS), Git version control, Software DevOps Process, MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, Visual Studio, and Visual Studio Code is preferred.

  • Experience with MIL STD 1553, ARINC 429, RS 232, and RS 422.

  • Basic understanding of code signing and code encryption for secure software delivery.

  • Understanding of Software Configuration Management for developed software.

  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

  • Must be able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, as well as horizontal integrations across the other teams.

  • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance.
