About the Role

Angala Financial Technologies Limited is seeking a Backend Developer to join the team building and scaling the Angala Payment Gateway, a payment infrastructure product enabling merchants and businesses to securely accept and process online payments.

You will build reliable backend systems that power payment processing, APIs, transaction management, integrations and financial data flows, with a strong focus on security, performance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain robust backend services and APIs.
Build secure and reliable payment processing and transaction workflows.
Integrate with banks, payment providers and other third-party financial systems.
Implement webhooks, authentication, reconciliation and transaction monitoring.
Ensure data integrity, security, system reliability and high availability.
Test, debug and optimise backend services for performance and scalability.
Collaborate with frontend, UI/UX, product and technology teams to deliver production-ready features.
Contribute to technical documentation, architecture and continuous improvement.

Requirements & Experience

4+ years of professional backend development experience.
Experience building production-grade APIs and web applications.
Experience with fintech, payments, banking, e-commerce or other transaction-intensive systems is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of databases, authentication, security and distributed systems.
Experience integrating third-party APIs and financial services is an advantage.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in one or more backend languages/frameworks such as Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, Go or similar; strong knowledge of REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, Git, API security, authentication, webhooks and cloud/server environments.
