Job description

About Us

Paredes & Co. is a growing CPA firm in Greenwood Village serving construction and real estate businesses across Colorado. A large share of our clients are Spanish-speaking owner-operators who have never had an accountant who could talk to them in their own language about their numbers. We take that seriously: technical work at a high standard, delivered with real cultural fluency.

We are small enough that your work is visible and your ideas get heard, and structured enough that you are not making it up as you go — we run on documented workpaper standards, defined templates, and a real knowledge base. You will not be buried in a back office; you will own a client book and talk to the people you serve.

The Role

This is a client-facing accounting role. Your primary work is monthly bookkeeping and close for a portfolio of construction and real estate clients, plus the advisory conversations that come out of that work — job costing, cash flow, entity and payroll questions, and helping owners actually understand their financials. Tax return preparation is a secondary duty, concentrated in season.

What You'll Do

  • Own monthly and quarterly bookkeeping and close for an assigned client portfolio (bank and credit card reconciliations, AP/AR, payroll entries, job cost coding, fixed assets)

  • Prepare accurate trial balances, adjusting journal entries, and financial statements that tie out

  • Meet with clients (in English and Spanish) to review financials, answer questions, and flag issues before they become problems

  • Support advisory work: cash flow review, job profitability, sales and use tax, 1099 compliance, payroll tax reconciliations

  • Prepare individual and business tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120-S) under CPA review during tax season

  • Respond to notices, assemble support, and maintain clean, documented workpapers per firm standards

  • Keep client communication current in TaxDome and keep engagements moving on schedule

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of proven, hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience (public accounting or multi-client bookkeeping strongly preferred)

  • Full professional fluency in both English and Spanish — speaking, reading, and writing. You will explain a balance sheet in Spanish and write a memo in English in the same afternoon.

  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Excel

  • Ability to complete a full-cycle close independently and reconcile to supporting detail

  • Comfort talking directly with business owners and asking the follow-up question

  • Organized, deadline-driven, and careful about documentation

Nice to Have

  • Experience with construction, trades, or real estate clients (job costing, WIP, retainage, percentage-of-completion)

  • Tax preparation experience in Lacerte, Drake, or comparable software

  • TaxDome, Gusto, or similar payroll platform experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA candidates and EAs encouraged to apply

  • Sales and use tax or Colorado local jurisdiction filing experience

Degree and certification are preferred but not required — demonstrated ability carries more weight here than credentials.

Growth

This position is designed to grow. As our client base expands, the person in this seat is our next senior accountant — with room to take on review responsibility, mentor newer staff, and lead client relationships.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • 401(k)

Work Location: In person
