Position Summary
Cyberlocke is seeking a Business Analyst โ Data Modernization to support the planning, discovery, design, implementation, and adoption of enterprise data modernization initiatives.
The Business Analyst serves as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and Cyberlocke's technical delivery teams, translating business objectives, operational processes, reporting requirements, data challenges, and compliance needs into clearly defined requirements that can be implemented by data architects, data engineers, analytics developers, governance specialists, cloud engineers, and other technical resources.
This role is especially important during customer discovery and throughout implementation. The Business Analyst will help clients understand their current data environment, identify business and data requirements, document the desired future state, prioritize use cases, define acceptance criteria, facilitate stakeholder decisions, and ensure delivered solutions address measurable business outcomes.
Cyberlocke's Data Modernization practice includes services involving Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, data integration and transformation, analytics and Power BI, data governance, data quality, cloud data platforms, AI readiness, security and compliance, and ongoing managed data operations.
The ideal candidate combines strong business analysis capabilities with an understanding of modern data platforms, analytics, governance, and cloud technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Business Discovery and Requirements Analysis

Lead and facilitate discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and requirements-gathering meetings with client business and technical teams.

Develop a clear understanding of the client's business objectives, operational processes, data environment, reporting requirements, pain points, risks, and modernization goals.

Translate business needs into clear functional, data, analytics, reporting, governance, security, and operational requirements.
-
Identify and document business problems that can be addressed through improved data integration, automation, analytics, governance, or modernization.

Define business use cases and expected outcomes for modernization initiatives.
-
Identify stakeholder priorities and reconcile conflicting requirements between departments or business units.
-
Help customers distinguish between business requirements, technical requirements, and future-state opportunities.
-
Maintain requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
Current-State Assessment
-
Assist with assessments of the client's current data ecosystem, including applications, data sources, databases, spreadsheets, reporting platforms, integrations, processes, and business workflows.

Document how information currently moves through the organization.
-
Identify manual processes, duplicate data entry, reporting inefficiencies, data silos, inconsistent business definitions, data ownership issues, and other operational challenges.

Assist technical teams in identifying source systems and understanding the business context of data contained within those systems.

Develop current-state process flows, data-flow documentation, business process maps, and stakeholder maps.

Help identify reporting and analytics dependencies that may be affected by modernization efforts.
Future-State Data Modernization Planning

Work with Cyberlocke solution architects and technical teams to translate business requirements into future-state solution requirements.

Help define the customer's desired future-state data operating model.

Participate in development of modernization roadmaps, implementation priorities, and phased delivery plans.

Assist customers in prioritizing data sources, reporting requirements, business domains, use cases, and analytics capabilities.

Support development of data modernization strategies involving Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, cloud data platforms, data integration, analytics, governance, and AI readiness.

Help define success criteria and measurable business outcomes for each modernization initiative.

Identify opportunities for process automation and improved data-driven decision making.

Data Governance and Data Quality

Assist customers in defining data ownership and stewardship responsibilities.

Help establish business definitions and governance requirements for critical data.

Participate in development of business glossaries and data classification requirements.

Document data-quality expectations and business validation rules.

Identify data-quality issues that affect business operations, reporting, analytics, or regulatory obligations.

Facilitate decisions regarding authoritative data sources.
-
Assist with requirements associated with data retention, privacy, security, classification, and regulatory compliance.

Work with technical and governance teams to ensure governance requirements are incorporated into the solution.
Analytics and Business Intelligence

Work with business stakeholders to identify reporting and analytics needs.

Gather requirements for Power BI dashboards, reports, scorecards, KPIs, and executive reporting.

Define report audiences, business questions, metrics, filtering requirements, drill-down capabilities, and data-refresh expectations.

Work with analytics developers to validate that reports accurately reflect approved business definitions and requirements.

Identify opportunities to replace manual spreadsheets and fragmented reporting processes with governed enterprise analytics.
AI Readiness and Use-Case Development

Assist customers in identifying business use cases for AI, Copilot, machine learning, and advanced analytics.

Evaluate whether supporting data is available, trusted, governed, and sufficiently mature for identified AI use cases.

Help customers prioritize AI opportunities based on business value, data readiness, complexity, and risk.

Document business requirements and expected outcomes for AI-enabled solutions.

Work with Cyberlocke technical teams to identify data modernization requirements necessary to enable future AI capabilities.

Obtain appropriate stakeholder acceptance and sign-off before production deployment.
Stakeholder Management
-
Serve as a trusted liaison between client executives, business users, data owners, IT teams, and Cyberlocke technical resources.

Communicate technical concepts in terminology appropriate for business stakeholders.

Communicate business requirements clearly to technical teams.
-
Facilitate meetings and workshops involving cross-functional stakeholder groups.
-
Document decisions, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and outstanding questions.

Identify situations requiring escalation or executive decisions.
-
Maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders throughout the engagement.
Project Delivery Support
-
Work closely with Project Managers, Solution Architects, Data Architects, Data Engineers, BI Developers, Governance Specialists, Security Engineers, and other members of the Cyberlocke delivery organization.

Assist Project Managers in defining scope, milestones, dependencies, assumptions, and deliverables.
-
Identify scope changes and requirements that may impact project timelines, resources, or costs.
-
Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, project status meetings, and other Agile or project-delivery activities as required.
-
Maintain requirements and business documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
-
Support transition from project implementation into operational or managed-service support when applicable.
Customer Adoption and Change Management
-
Identify business processes affected by the modernization initiative.
-
Help customers understand how new data capabilities will change existing workflows.
-
Assist in development of user documentation and training requirements.
-
Support stakeholder communication and adoption activities.
-
Help identify organizational barriers to adoption and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.

Assist customers with transitioning from legacy reporting and manual processes to new enterprise data and analytics capabilities.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, or similar role.

Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate discovery sessions and stakeholder workshops.

Experience documenting business processes, functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

Experience working with technical implementation teams.
