Business Analyst / Product Manager
Art of Spin
Job description
Business Analyst / Product Manager
About the Role
We are building a product designed to improve player retention for iGaming operators through missions and quests, leaderboards, a store, virtual currency economics, mini-games, and data-driven engagement personalization.
We are looking for someone who will own the requirements and documentation for this area from initial input through release and acceptance: translate product concepts into clear and unambiguous requirements and technical specifications, maintain documentation, and track the metrics affected by the mechanics.
This is a hybrid role: approximately 60% requirements and documentation (specifications, processes, acceptance) and 40% product analysis of mechanics and metrics.
Responsibilities
Requirements and Documentation
-
Gather, analyze, clarify, validate, and prioritize requirements; translate product needs into clear, detailed, and unambiguous requirements.
-
Own the completeness and consistency of specifications for the area: one mechanic should have one coherent set of requirements with no gaps or contradictions.
-
Develop documentation: BRD, FRD, technical specifications for development teams, integration descriptions, interaction scenarios, required data, rules, and errors.
-
Define acceptance criteria for every requirement and participate in UAT: test scenarios and functional acceptance.
-
Manage requirement changes: impact assessment, updates, and maintenance of overall consistency.
-
Document, analyze, and visualize business processes and workflows (BPMN, UML).
-
Document existing system functionality and propose optimization and improvement opportunities.
-
Perform system analysis of the solution: document interactions between systems and APIs, integration and event flows, data mapping, and technical UML/sequence diagrams in collaboration with the development team.
Product Analysis of Mechanics
-
Develop and maintain the mechanics within the area: missions/quests, leaderboards, store, virtual currency economics, mini-games, and engagement personalization.
-
Manage the roadmap and backlog: generate and describe concepts, assess potential impact, and prioritize.
-
Bring mechanics in the pipeline into a comparable format for prioritization: objective, segment, rules, dependencies, and indicative complexity.
-
Analyze usability and competitors, research UX/UI solutions, propose improvements, and create prototypes in Figma.
-
Check mechanics for compliance with licensing requirements, responsible gaming principles, and jurisdictional restrictions.
-
Analyze post-release results, iterate based on data, and disable mechanics that do not perform.
Metrics and Reporting
-
Define and document product and business metrics for the area: activity, participation in mechanics, retention, and ARPU/ARPPU by segment.
-
Own reporting (dashboards and alerts rather than manual exports); define requirements for BI/data teams for new breakdowns, dimensions, and events.
-
Validate hypotheses through data; understand the principles of product experimentation.
-
Investigate anomalies and performance drops: localize the cause (mechanic, brand, integration, data) and escalate with a hypothesis rather than just a number.
Working with the Team and Stakeholders
-
Act as the link between the business and technical teams: product, development, design, QA, BI, compliance, and support.
-
Support the team by removing requirement-related blockers, answering specification questions, and providing ongoing support during sprints.
-
Present solutions and results to stakeholders and work with priorities.
Candidate Requirements
Must-have
-
At least 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst / Product Manager in Gambling / iGaming / Fintech / betting or payment systems.
-
Experience gathering, documenting, and managing requirements; strong attention to detail and documentation quality.
-
Experience describing business processes and developing operating procedures.
-
Strong command of BPMN and UML notations.
-
Understanding of the software development lifecycle and methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
-
Ability to work with data independently: retrieve and interpret metrics, calculate feature economics, and formulate hypotheses. SQL skills sufficient for confidently reading and writing queries.
-
Understanding of product experimentation and A/B testing principles: how to formulate a hypothesis, select metrics, and interpret results.
-
Basic understanding of frontend, backend, and databases sufficient for effective collaboration with developers; understanding of integrations, APIs, and network protocols.
-
Practical system analysis experience: ability to decompose interactions between multiple systems, services, and APIs and work with development to define technically unambiguous requirements.
-
Practical experience using AI tools in the daily workflow: using AI to analyze, prepare, and validate requirements/documentation while understanding the capabilities and limitations of such tools.
-
Basic understanding of the ML system lifecycle: from input data and model operation to model output and how that output is consumed by other product components; ability to work with requirements for AI/ML functionality together with ML/Data teams.
-
Experience prototyping user interfaces in Figma.
-
Strong proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
-
English level B2+.
Nice to Have
-
Experience with gamification, retention / CRM / loyalty mechanics, or live ops in iGaming.
-
Product analytics experience: A/B testing, cohort analysis, and retention analysis.
-
Understanding of multi-brand architecture and how operator platforms / aggregators work.
-
Experience working with VIP / high-roller segments.
-
Experience with BI tools (Metabase, Tableau, Power BI, Looker) at the level of building dashboards.
-
Understanding of responsible gaming and licensing restrictions applicable to promotional mechanics.
