Business Analyst / Scrum Master

Location: Oakland, CA — Onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced

Business Analyst with Scrum Master responsibilities

to support Agile delivery by bridging business and technology teams, leading functional discussions, and driving effective requirements and backlog management.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in business analysis, stakeholder engagement, requirements management, and Agile/Scrum methodologies. This role will also serve as a

part-time Scrum Master for one or more delivery squads

, facilitating Agile ceremonies, removing impediments, and supporting continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, document, and validate business requirements.
Develop clear

user stories, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria

aligned with business objectives.
Lead requirements workshops, discovery sessions, process reviews, and functional design discussions.
Translate business needs into actionable backlog items and functional specifications for technology teams.
Collaborate with Product Owners and delivery teams to manage, refine, and prioritize the product backlog.
Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including

Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives

.
Monitor sprint progress, identify and remove impediments, and proactively address delivery challenges.
Promote adherence to Agile/Scrum practices, delivery standards, and governance processes.
Serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders, engineering teams, architects, Product Owners, and project leadership.
Support

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

, including planning, execution, defect triage, and business sign-off.
Track project risks, dependencies, milestones, and delivery commitments while providing regular stakeholder updates.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement recommendations to improve team productivity, delivery quality, and overall efficiency.
Support geographically distributed, cross-functional teams and effectively manage competing priorities.

Required Qualifications & Skills

8+ years of experience

as a Business Analyst, Functional Lead, or similar role.
2+ years of experience

facilitating Agile/Scrum teams as a Scrum Master or Agile Lead.
Strong expertise in

requirements elicitation, business process modeling, functional analysis, and stakeholder management

.
Hands-on experience with Agile delivery and tools such as

Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms

.
Strong proficiency in

backlog management, user story development, refinement, and acceptance criteria definition

.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and facilitation skills.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with business, technology, architecture, and project leadership teams.
Experience working with

cross-functional and geographically distributed teams

.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, priorities, risks, and dependencies simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to drive Agile adoption, continuous improvement, and successful delivery outcomes.
