Job description
About The Role
The Business Data Analyst turns operational and product data into clear analysis that supports decisions across growth, finance, customer operations, and product teams. The role works across SQL-based data warehouses, BI tools, and curated reporting models to define metrics, investigate performance changes, and deliver trusted insights.
The analyst will partner with stakeholders to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analysis and repeatable reporting. Success means improving data visibility, identifying meaningful trends, and building dashboards and datasets that teams can use without manual intervention.
Key Responsibilities
-
Analyze product, customer, revenue, and operational data using SQL to identify trends, anomalies, and drivers of business performance
-
Build and maintain dashboards and recurring reports in Looker, Tableau, or Power BI, with clear metric definitions and documented data sources
-
Translate stakeholder questions into analytical requirements, measurable KPIs, and scoped deliverables with clear timelines
-
Partner with analytics engineers to improve dbt models, data transformations, and the reliability of downstream reporting
-
Validate datasets and reporting outputs through reconciliation checks, anomaly detection, and documented quality-control processes
-
Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders using concise narratives, visualizations, and supporting analysis
-
Automate recurring analysis and reporting workflows with Python, spreadsheet scripting, or scheduled warehouse queries
What We Are Looking For
-
2–4 years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, product analytics, operations analytics, or a related quantitative role
-
Advanced SQL skills, including complex joins, CTEs, window functions, aggregations, and query-performance fundamentals
-
Hands-on experience with a modern data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks SQL
-
Experience building production dashboards and self-service reporting in Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or a comparable BI platform
-
Working knowledge of data modeling concepts, dimensional schemas, metric definitions, and transformation frameworks such as dbt
-
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical findings, assumptions, and limitations to business and technical audiences
-
Bachelor’s degree in analytics, statistics, economics, computer science, business, or a related quantitative discipline; Bonus: experience with Python, experimentation or A/B testing, dbt, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or SaaS business metrics
