Job description

The firm:

Murray Beith Murray LLP is one of Scotland's leading private client law firms. For over 175 years, we have specialised in meeting the legal, financial and administrative needs of individuals and families, trusts, charities and private companies. For more information, please visit our website www.murraybeith.co.uk.

The role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and proactive Business Systems & Data Analyst to join the firm and play a key role in supporting and improving how we use technology and data across the business.

This is a varied role covering business systems administration, data and reporting, workflow improvement, automation and user adoption. You will work with colleagues across the firm, together with software suppliers and technology partners, to ensure our core applications operate effectively and continue to meet evolving business needs.

You will also contribute to the firm's ongoing digital development, helping to improve reporting and data quality, identify opportunities to streamline processes and support the adoption of new technologies.

Working across the firm, you will:

  • Support and administer our core business and legal applications.

  • Develop accurate and accessible reports and dashboards using SQL, Excel and Power BI.

  • Work with stakeholders to understand reporting, system and process requirements.

  • Help improve data quality, reporting standards and the way information is captured across the firm.

  • Support workflows, system integrations and automation.

  • Liaise with software suppliers and technology partners to resolve issues and deliver improvements.

  • Produce clear documentation, guidance and training to help colleagues get the most from our systems.

  • Contribute to system implementations and wider digital transformation initiatives.

The candidate:

Our ideal candidate will have experience supporting business systems, data, reporting or operational processes within a professional services or similarly complex environment. You will be analytical and solutions-focused, with the ability to understand business requirements and translate these into practical system, reporting or process improvements.

You should be able to demonstrate strong SQL skills and experience producing reports and dashboards using Power BI and advanced Excel, alongside a good understanding of data quality, data structures and information management.

Experience supporting business applications, integrations, automation and user adoption would be advantageous. Experience within the legal sector, particularly with practice, document or case management systems such as Partner for Windows (P4W), would be especially valuable.

Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform, APIs or system integrations would also be advantageous.

You will be organised, methodical and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. You will have a proactive and solutions-focused approach, strong communication skills and be comfortable working collaboratively with colleagues of different technical skill levels, suppliers and technology partners. Above all, you will be interested in finding practical ways to improve how technology and data support the firm.

Working at MBM:

This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. We offer a competitive remuneration package.

The role may occasionally require participation in planned testing outside normal working hours following significant system changes, with appropriate advance notice.
