Senior C#/.NET Software Engineer – Financial Markets | Contract
Build high-performance technology that powers global financial markets.
We’re looking for a Senior C#/.NET Software Engineer to join a high-performing technology team supporting a global financial markets business.
This is an opportunity to work on complex, business-critical systems where engineering quality, performance and reliability genuinely matter. You’ll be involved across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through to development, testing, deployment and production support.
You’ll work alongside experienced Engineers, Traders and business Stakeholders to solve challenging problems and build resilient, scalable services for this completely in-house built Trade Capture platform for the FX Options and Credit Default Swaps (CDS) markets.
What you’ll be doingDesign and develop high-performance applications using C# and .NET
Build and evolve distributed, microservices-based systems
Take ownership across the full SDLC — architecture, design, development, testing and deployment
Modernise existing services and contribute to technology migration initiatives
Develop scalable RESTful APIs and service-to-service integrations
Work with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or AWS SNS/SQS
Improve application performance, reliability and code quality
Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases
Contribute to engineering practices including TDD, code reviews, pair programming and CI/CD
Work with cloud and containerised environments including AWS, Docker and Kubernetes
Provide production support and troubleshoot complex technical issues when required
What you’ll bring6+ years of commercial C#/.NET development experience
Strong experience with modern .NET / .NET Core
Excellent understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms and software engineering principles
Strong experience designing and developing microservices
Experience building and consuming REST APIs
Solid understanding of concurrency, scalability and performance optimisation
Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
Strong understanding of modern engineering practices including TDD, CI/CD, code reviews and Git
Experience working with AWS and/or cloud-native technologies
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Exposure to Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS or similar messaging platforms
Experience with Angular or React would be advantageous
Comfortable working in Linux environments and with scripting
A strong focus on clean code, maintainability and engineering quality
- Previous Front Office/Trading systems Development experience (ideally Trade Capture or related FICC systems) highly adventageous
