CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

Location: Doha, Qatar

Department: Finance & Accounts

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Salary: QAR 10,000 per month

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Chief Accountant to lead our accounting operations and support treasury management, project accounting, inventory control, and working capital optimization.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in trading and project-based organizations, excellent ERP and Excel skills, and hands-on expertise in trade finance facilities and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Oversee the overall accounting function, including the general ledger.

• Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing.

• Review journal entries, reconciliations, accounting transactions, and supporting schedules.

• Coordinate annual audits with external auditors.

• Maintain strong internal controls and financial reporting accuracy.

2. Treasury & Trade Finance

• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.

• Monitor daily cash positions and communicate liquidity requirements.

• Manage Letters of Credit (LCs), import/export LCs, and Bank Guarantees (LGs).

• Handle Murabaha, Trust Receipt, and other trade finance facilities.

• Review shipping and customs documentation and supplier settlements.

• Prepare facility utilization reports and support financial planning.

3. Project Costing & Accounting

• Create and manage projects within the ERP system.

• Ensure project costs and manual invoices are accurately recorded.

• Prepare project cost reports and validate data with project and invoicing teams.

4. Inventory Management & Cost Control

• Ensure accurate Goods Received Notes (GRNs), including relevant purchase costs.

• Monitor material issues, transfers, and inventory adjustments.

• Supervise physical stock counts and inventory reconciliations.

• Prepare inventory aging reports.

• Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams.

5. Accounts Receivable

• Ensure timely updating of trading and project invoices in the ERP system.

• Record receipts and allocate bank credits against customer invoices.

• Monitor post-dated cheques (PDCs), aging, and collections.

• Prepare customer reconciliations and resolve payment disputes.

6. Accounts Payable

• Ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices.

• Review supplier reconciliations and payment schedules.

• Monitor payment terms and vendor compliance.

• Maintain effective supplier relationships.

7. Payroll & Employee Provisions

• Coordinate with HR for monthly payroll preparation and disbursement.

• Ensure accurate ERP recording of salaries, leave provisions, gratuity, and end-of-service benefits (EOSB).

• Maintain strict confidentiality of employee compensation information.

Experience & Qualifications

• 8–12 years of accounting and finance experience.

• 3–5 years minimum in a Chief Accountant or Senior Accountant role.

• Proven experience in trading and/or project-based organizations is preferred.

• Strong hands-on experience with ERP systems, advanced Excel, data integrity, and financial reporting accuracy.

• Practical knowledge of Letters of Credit (LCs), Bank Guarantees (LGs), Murabaha, Trust Receipts, and trade finance facilities.

• Strong understanding of project costing, inventory control, treasury, and working capital management.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

• Qatar experience is an advantage.
