The Opportunity

Copius Group is seeking an experienced

Civil Design Engineer

to support the delivery of major

power generation, energy and large-scale industrial construction projects

.

The successful candidate will have a strong civil and structural design background, ideally gained within power generation, energy infrastructure, process industries, data centres, utilities, oil & gas, or other technically complex industrial environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who is comfortable taking civil design packages from initial concept through detailed design, construction support and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

The Civil Design Engineer will be responsible for activities including:

• Development of civil engineering designs from concept through detailed design and construction.

• Preparation and review of

  Design Basis Reports (DBRs)

  , design philosophies and technical specifications.

• Design and coordination of:

• Reinforced concrete foundations.

• Equipment and machinery foundations.

• Structural slabs and plinths.

• Industrial buildings and technical structures.

• Roads, hardstandings and access areas.

• Underground drainage systems.

• Stormwater management systems.

• Underground services and utility corridors.

• Trenches, pits and cable infrastructure.

• Retaining structures and earthworks.

• Development of general arrangement drawings, construction drawings and design calculations.

• Review and interpretation of geotechnical information and site investigation reports.

• Coordination of civil interfaces with mechanical, electrical, structural and process disciplines.

• Preparation and review of civil specifications, calculations, drawings and technical documentation.

• Coordination with BIM and CAD teams to produce coordinated and clash-free construction information.

• Review of vendor and subcontractor design submissions.

• Technical support to construction teams during project execution.

• Responding to RFIs and resolving site-based engineering issues.

• Participation in design reviews, constructability reviews and technical meetings.

• Ensuring designs comply with applicable European, British and/or international engineering standards.

• Supporting value engineering and identifying practical, cost-effective construction solutions.

• Ensuring designs consider construction methodology, programme, safety and maintainability.

Experience & Qualifications

Applicants should ideally have:

• Degree in

  Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline

  .

• Minimum

  5+ years' relevant civil design experience

  , although experienced candidates at different levels will be considered.

• Previous experience within

  power generation, energy, industrial, process, utilities, data centres, oil & gas, petrochemical or similar major construction projects

  .

• Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and structural civil design.

• Experience designing equipment foundations and industrial infrastructure would be highly advantageous.

• Experience with drainage and stormwater design.

• Knowledge of geotechnical design principles, earthworks and foundation selection.

• Ability to interpret multidisciplinary engineering drawings and specifications.

• Experience producing design calculations, reports and construction documentation.

• Good understanding of applicable Eurocodes and recognised international engineering standards.

• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with project managers, construction teams, clients and other engineering disciplines.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be particularly beneficial:

• Gas-fired or combined-cycle power plants.

• Energy-from-waste facilities.

• Emergency or standby generation plants.

• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

• Substations and electrical infrastructure.

• Renewable energy projects.

• Data centre developments.

• Turbine or generator foundations.

• Heavy industrial buildings.

• Cooling systems and associated civil infrastructure.

• Large mechanical equipment foundations.

• EPC or design-and-build environments.

• Temporary works and construction engineering.

• BIM / 3D coordination.

Experience with software such as

AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Tekla, Robot, STAAD, ETABS, SAP2000 or similar engineering design packages

would also be beneficial.
