OCU Group are seeking a motivated and ambitious Civil Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Deeside, Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, supporting the delivery of innovative and sustainable engineering solutions that make a real difference to communities across the region.

Working alongside experienced engineers and industry specialists, you will gain exposure to a wide range of projects, from treatment facilities and pumping stations to major infrastructure upgrades. This role is ideal for an engineer looking to further develop their technical expertise within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

As a Civil Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of water and wastewater projects from concept through to completion. You will be responsible for producing engineering designs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce and review civil and structural design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.

  • Support the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, clients, and stakeholders throughout all project phases.

  • Lead smaller projects and work packages, ensuring delivery against programme, budget, and quality objectives.

  • Participate in technical design reviews, constructability assessments, and engineering workshops.

  • Contribute to Design & Build project delivery and the development of practical engineering solutions.

  • Assess existing infrastructure and develop engineering designs for treatment works, pumping stations, and associated assets.

  • Support compliance with CDM regulations, design risk assessments, and environmental risk management processes.

  • Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with applicable industry standards, specifications, and client requirements.

What You'll Bring

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Experience within water, wastewater, utilities, or infrastructure engineering projects.

  • Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles within water and wastewater environments.

  • Experience producing engineering calculations, technical drawings, and reports.

  • Knowledge of UK engineering standards, codes, and design practices, including CESWI.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience working within Design & Build project environments.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities while contributing to successful project delivery.

  • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE or a relevant professional institution.

  • Experience leading smaller engineering projects or work packages.

  • Knowledge of pumping systems, treatment processes, and infrastructure assessments.

  • Experience supporting tender, bid, or proposal activities.

  • Understanding of CDM regulations and design risk management.

  • Flexible approach to travel and attending client, contractor, and site meetings.

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices or geographical locations.
