PDA Surveyors, Engineers & Planners (PDA) are looking to recruit our next experienced Civil/Site Engineer for  our Hobart head office!

Are you looking for the best of both worlds? PDA is looking for someone that wants to enjoy the technical aspects of civil design but still want to be the boots on the ground!

We are looking for a candidate who is looking for a good mix of workload working between both of our civil design and project management/site engineer teams.

About You

  • Qualification in Civil Engineering or 3-4+ years of relevant experience

  • Working towards or hold CPEng status with Engineers Australia

  • Experience in planning, design and delivery of civil projects

  • Ability to review design drawings and provide guidance on plan design

  • Working knowledge of Austroads, Australian Standards and local/service authority design standards

  • Experience using Civil Site Design or similar design software

  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and build strong client relationships

  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The Role

The positions responsibilities are including but not limited to are:

  • Carry out and supervise engineering design and preparation of drawings and documentation, consisting mainly of; roads, sewerage, water supply and storm water drainage for both residential  subdivisions and council infrastructure projects within Tasmania.

  • Report to and assist/advise the supervising directors and senior staff, with regard to all aspects of civil 

    engineering undertaken by the firm throughout the state, including tendering, design documentation and 

    project supervision.

  • Contract preparation and administration, including; tender preparation, site meetings, site inspections, 

    instructions/advice to contractors, clients and directors, recommendation regarding contract variations and 

    claims, calculation of value of completed works, etc.

  • Monitor project plans to ensure objectives are being satisfied and provide timely advice to the Manager on 

    any anticipated delays affecting project commitments.

  • Review all design documentation prepared and ensure that it is correct, suitable for construction and in accordance with all relevant standards and legislation and complies with all the requirements of the Quality System Management Systems (QMS)

  • Effectively liaise with external authorities and staff regarding engineering matters and deliverables to deliver 

    positive outcomes

  • Undertake inspections of construction works to confirm compliance with design documentation.

  • Ensure prompt and courteous responses to all enquiries and correspondence from Clients

  • Maintain knowledge of policies and current best practice in engineering project management

  • Participate and contribute to team-based activities that may include; project planning, support and  quality improvement projects

  • Assist in the tender and quoting process for potential new projects
