Clinical Nurse Consultant - Patient Flow

Your new role:

As a Clinical Nurse Consultant in Patient Flow, you'll provide advanced clinical leadership and expertise to support safe, effective and timely patient movement across the Emergency Department and hospital. You will:

Coordinate and support patient flow within the Emergency Department in collaboration with the Patient Flow Unit

Provide advanced clinical expertise, assessment and advice to support safe, high-quality patient care

Proactively identify and address barriers to patient movement, inpatient allocation and timely access to care

Support strategies to reduce Emergency Department length of stay, ambulance ramping and ward allocation delays

About you:

You're an experienced Registered Nurse and clinical leader who brings advanced nursing knowledge, strong decision-making skills and a passion for improving patient flow and healthcare outcomes. You'll be confident working in a fast-paced environment and building collaborative relationships across clinical and operational teams. You will have:

Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in patient flow nursing, emergency care or a related clinical environment

Strong clinical leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations

Highly developed communication, negotiation and collaboration skills with the ability to influence positive outcomes across multidisciplinary teams

Demonstrated ability to use evidence, data and quality improvement approaches to identify opportunities and lead meaningful service change

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.

We are nationally recognised for our expertise in trauma management and organ transplants and are one of Australia's leading academic and research health centres. The PAH as a major medical research precinct hosts Australia's most advanced medical research facility, the Translational Research Institute (TRI) as well as a new Clinical Research Facility for the discoveries made at TRI to be trialed in a safe clinical environment.

We're expanding our hospital to make sure everyone gets the care they need. We're adding more beds, modernising our buildings, and improving our spaces to treat kidney and cancer patients with all new services and facilities planned to open by 2027.
