Job Description :

Job Role : Cloud Platform Engineer

Location : Sydney

Role : Contract

Essential for this role

Education and Qualifications - Degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or Computer Science

Work Experience - 5 years industry experience building online applications

Technical / Professional Skills

  1. Platform Engineering (Product Mindset) -Designs and operates internal platforms as products, focused on developer experience, onboarding speed, adoption, and measurable delivery outcomes rather than ticket-driven DevOps support.

  2. Cloud & Infrastructure as Code (AWS-first)Strong experience building and operating multi-account AWS platforms using modular, versioned IaC (Terraform preferred), with secure defaults and automated enforcement.

  3. Golden Paths & Standardized Delivery - Creates opinionated, reusable building blocks such as service templates, CI/CD pipeline primitives, Kubernetes baselines, and observability packages with clear upgrade and escape-hatch strategies.

  4. Self-Service & GitOps Automation - Enables teams through APIs, CLIs, and GitOps workflows (e.g., ArgoCD), reducing manual approvals and support load while maintaining guardrails.

  5. Containers & Multi-Tenant Kubernetes Platforms - Deep understanding of containerized workloads, Helm-based deployments, and platform-level Kubernetes controls for isolation, quotas, and scalability across many teams.

  6. Secure-by-Default Architecture - Embeds security via policy-as-code, least-privilege IAM, secrets management, and software supply chain controls so compliant paths are the easiest paths.

  7. Reliability, Observability & Operations -Treats reliability as a platform feature, implementing SLOs, error budgets, standardized logging/metrics/tracing, safe rollouts, and incident learning loops.

  8. Automation, Communication & Enablement - Builds productized automation using Python/Shell, writes clear documentation, and influences teams through paved roads, examples, and education—not tribal knowledge.
