Cloud Storage Engineer
Nuvolant
Job description
Job Description
About Us:
Nuvolant is a global IT services and solutions integrator built to help organizations move faster without sacrificing scale. Founded by leaders with deep experience building high-growth technology companies and delivering complex enterprise infrastructure, we combine startup speed with enterprise execution. Our approach reflects a belief that the best outcomes come from pairing decisive action with future-proof architectures.
Role Overview
Build the archive platform for a Fortune 500 entertainment company managing petabytes of content. You'll own it end to end: finish the automation scripting already in progress, then build the full request-to-restore workflow around it. Jira intake, validation, approvals, job execution, audit trail. Your code moves real data at scale, in production, from day one.
This is a hands on build-and-run role. Success requires deep storage and cloud automation skills, disciplined engineering habits, and a track record of making large-scale data operations repeatable, traceable, and resilient.
Job Requirements:
-
Design reliable, consistent, performant archiving and restore solutions across NetApp, AWS S3, cloud storage, and vaulting environments
-
Design and build automated archive workflows using AWS DataSync and AWS Storage Gateway, including the scripting, APIs, and orchestration needed to move, validate, archive, and restore content
-
Apply strong knowledge of Amazon S3 storage classes, lifecycle policies, versioning, retention, and retrieval characteristics to select the right storage tier based on access needs, performance, recovery time, and cost
-
Build workflow guardrails, validation checks, error handling, and retry logic that make archive and restore operations repeatable, traceable, and reliable
-
Use indexing and data-management platforms such as Diskover to catalog archived content, maintain metadata, and enable efficient search and retrieval across large archives
-
Strong DevOps and systems engineering experience including monitoring, logging, alerting, capacity management, performance analysis, and operational support
-
Design and automate the end-to-end archive request workflow, from Ticketbooth through Jira to the archive platform, including request validation, approvals, job initiation, status tracking, exception handling, completion reporting, and audit trail maintenance
Nice to Have
-
Advanced experience with NetApp ONTAP, NAS, NFS/SMB, and large-scale enterprise storage environments
-
Experience designing multi-petabyte archive, backup, vaulting, or data lifecycle management solutions
-
Automation development using Python, PowerShell, Bash, REST APIs, AWS CLI, or AWS SDKs
-
Experience integrating Jira with external systems via APIs, webhooks, or workflow automation
-
Experience implementing data-integrity validation, such as checksums, metadata comparison, and reconciliation, before source data is deleted or transitioned
-
Experience designing archive indexing, metadata, and search/cataloging strategies for fast identification and restore of archived content
-
Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, observability, security controls, IAM, and other practices for maintaining reliable production cloud and storage services
Education and Experience
-
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical field
-
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in storage, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, systems engineering, or archive platform development
