Overview

Join our dynamic Team team as a Construction Accountant, where your expertise will drive financial accuracy and compliance across our many projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your accounting skills within the construction industry, ensuring precise financial management, regulatory adherence, and insightful reporting. You will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of project budgets, financial statements, and compliance standards, supporting our mission to deliver high-quality construction outcomes efficiently and transparently.

Duties

  • Prepare and analyze project-specific financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

  • Manage general ledger accounting processes using financial software such as QuickBooks, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.

  • Conduct detailed account analysis and balance sheet reconciliations to verify accuracy and identify discrepancies promptly.

  • Oversee budgeting processes for multiple projects, including forecasting and variance analysis to support financial planning.

  • Perform cash flow analysis and bank reconciliations to ensure liquidity management aligns with project needs.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance by maintaining accurate records in accordance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements and other relevant standards.

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation related to financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance procedures.

  • Assist in implementing technical accounting procedures related to LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), securities law, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices.

  • Mentor junior team members in technical accounting concepts such as double-entry bookkeeping, VLOOKUP functions in spreadsheets, and financial report writing.

Skills

  • Extensive experience with accounting software including QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel data analysis, spreadsheets), and other financial management tools.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP standards, regulatory compliance accounting, and technical accounting principles relevant to construction projects.

  • Proficiency in Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas for data analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial reports and prepare clear financial statements for stakeholders.

  • Expertise in account reconciliation processes—bank accounts, general ledger accounts—and cash flow management.

  • Familiarity with budgeting techniques, accrual accounting methods, forecasting models, and corporate finance principles.

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for journal entries, account analysis, and financial report interpretation.

  • Ability to mentor team members effectively while fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement.
