Position: Cost Accountant

Company: August Winter & Sons, a leading mechanical contractor in Northeast Wisconsin, has an opening for a Cost Accountant in our Service Department. We service clients in a variety of industries including: Commercial, Healthcare, and Industrial applications that involve heating, cooling, process, structural and plumbing systems. Job Responsibilities:

Daily review of Service/construction work orders and accounting software entries to ensure proper entry of call type, scope, and pricing
Review and code sales tax on individual work orders in relation to both cost and billing
Weekly review of construction work orders with Service salespeople and determine billable status
Prepare and send multiple invoice types (monthly AIA, contract, time and material, agreement) for both service and construction work orders
Complete weekly job cost transfers / journal entries (PR reimbursements, time / material transfers)
Work up preliminary work order totals for purchase order requests from customers and follow up on PO status for billings
Send requested invoice copies as needed
Work with customers and Service salespeople to resolve billing questions
Enter new customer requests, including requesting necessary information from Service salespeople and/or customers
Work with Service Accounting Manager on annual review of Service customers and billing rate template updates
Back up Service Accounting Clerk with daily entry/processing of Type 8 Accounts Payable invoices and approval to individual Service WOs
Back up Service Accounting Clerk with weekly cost entry of inventory and consumable tickets
Back up Service Accounting Clerk with maintenance of customer-specific web portals and entry of invoices
Back up Service Accounting Clerk with weekly entry of Service billable travel time
Work with other areas of Service to obtain or provide information as required
Assist Service Management / Salespeople as required

Requirements: (Experience / Education / General)

2-year Associate or 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Ability to enter data quickly and accurately
Strong attention to detail
Excellent communication (both verbal and written), customer service, problem solving, and organizational skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks and fast paced environment
Prior construction accounting experience is a plus
Prior knowledge of HVAC / Plumbing systems is a plus
