Job description

Luminary People Collective is a boutique recruitment and People advisory firm connecting great people with great opportunities. We partner with ambitious businesses to find exceptional talent, build strong teams, and create meaningful connections that last.

Luminary People Collective is partnering with Moe's Home Collection to find a detail-oriented, analytical and proactive Data Analyst (Claims) to join their growing team.

Moe's Home Collection is a family-run furniture and design company with a passion for creating thoughtfully designed pieces for the modern home. With an entrepreneurial mindset and a people-first approach, Moe's continues to evolve, challenge the status quo and find new ways to better serve its customers.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a curious, detail-oriented and solutions-focused Data Analyst (Claims) to join the Moe's Home Collection team.

As Moe's first dedicated Data Analyst, this is an exciting opportunity to build structure, establish reporting processes and make a meaningful impact on how data is collected, analyzed and used across the business.

You will work with data from multiple sources, identify trends and recurring product issues, and translate your findings into practical recommendations that help the Quality team and broader business take action.

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys both the technical side of data and the opportunity to collaborate with different teams, solve problems and see the real-world impact of their work.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Claims Data Analysis & Insights

  • Consolidate claims, returns, damage and customer feedback data from multiple sources, including SAP, Resolutions Team logs, customer data and brand channels.

  • Clean, standardize and organize data to create a reliable and consistent dataset for analysis and reporting.

  • Categorize claims by product, SKU, vendor, defect type, sales channel and region to identify meaningful trends.

  • Analyze recurring defects, product issues and potential root causes across Moe's, Sundays and Hetta.

  • Identify patterns and emerging risks, providing clear insights into claim volumes, associated costs and affected products or vendors.

  • Present findings to the Quality team in a clear, actionable format that supports investigation and corrective action.

  • Use data to help measure the effectiveness of product quality improvements and identify opportunities to reduce future claims.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the Resolutions Team and Customer Data teams to understand how claims information is collected, categorized and maintained.

  • Work closely with Quality Control to track product issues from identification through corrective action and measure whether improvements are delivering results.

  • Share relevant findings with Product Development, Sourcing and brand teams to support product decisions and vendor conversations.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to ensure reporting reflects business needs and supports decision-making.

  • Build strong relationships with teams across North America and Asia, bringing a collaborative and solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.

Data Quality & Process Improvement

  • Map existing claims data sources and workflows, identifying gaps, inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement.

  • Develop a more structured and reliable approach to consolidating data across different systems and teams.

  • Recommend improvements to how claims information is captured, including standardized defect codes, required data fields and product or photo references.

  • Establish and maintain data quality standards to improve accuracy, consistency and reporting reliability.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes and improve efficiency through automation and better data management practices.

  • Help build scalable processes that support future growth and evolving business needs.

Reporting, Dashboards & Documentation

  • Develop and maintain recurring claims reports and dashboards using Excel and Power BI.

  • Create clear, accessible reporting that highlights key issues, trends and opportunities, including weekly claims summaries and monthly analysis by vendor, product and SKU.

  • Translate complex datasets into concise, meaningful insights that non-technical stakeholders can easily understand and act on.

  • Prepare ad hoc analysis and reporting to support leadership and cross-functional teams.

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) covering data collection, cleaning, analysis and reporting.

  • Ensure reporting processes are well documented, repeatable and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

  • Leverage AI tools, including Claude and ChatGPT, to support analysis, documentation, process improvement and productivity while maintaining appropriate data confidentiality.

What Success Looks Like in Your First Year

This is an opportunity to take ownership of an important function and build something meaningful from the ground up.

Within your first 12 months, success will look like:

  • Reliable claims visibility:

The Quality team has access to consistent, trusted reporting that clearly identifies the most significant product claims and quality issues, eliminating the need for manual data gathering.

  • Consolidated data:

All key claims data sources have been mapped, cleaned and brought together into a reliable dataset used across the business.

  • Actionable dashboards:

Recurring Power BI dashboards and claims reports are established and actively used by Quality Control, Resolutions and brand teams.

  • Documented processes:

Clear SOPs are in place for the end-to-end claims data process, ensuring consistency and continuity.

  • Measurable improvements:

Insights from your analysis have helped drive corrective actions that result in measurable reductions in claims for targeted products, SKUs or vendors.

  • Strong partnerships:

You have built credibility across departments and established yourself as a trusted resource for accurate data, meaningful insights and practical recommendations.

What You Bring

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a Data Analyst, Business Analyst or similar analytical role, ideally within retail, e-commerce, furniture or consumer products.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, pivot tables, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH and data cleaning techniques.

  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining dashboards in Power BI.

  • Experience extracting, consolidating and analyzing data from SAP or a comparable ERP system.

  • Strong understanding of data quality, data validation and working with information from multiple systems.

  • Ability to identify trends, investigate inconsistencies and translate data into clear business insights.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present analytical findings to non-technical audiences in a concise and engaging way.

  • Strong written communication skills, including experience documenting processes, procedures and SOPs.

  • Proficiency with AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude, with an interest in using technology to improve efficiency and workflows.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • A self-directed approach, with the confidence to take initiative, solve problems and build processes where they do not yet exist.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with claims, returns, warranties, customer resolutions or product quality data.

  • Familiarity with quality control, product development, sourcing or vendor management.

  • Experience collaborating with teams across multiple time zones, particularly North America and Asia.

  • A degree in Business, Statistics, Data Analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience in the furniture, fashion, retail or broader consumer goods industry.

How You Work

We are looking for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys working with data and understands that great analysis is only valuable when it leads to meaningful action.

You bring a combination of analytical thinking and practical problem-solving. You are not someone who simply produces reports. You want to understand the business, uncover opportunities and contribute to better outcomes.

You are organized, resourceful and comfortable working independently. As the first dedicated analyst in this area, you are excited by the opportunity to build processes, introduce structure and take ownership of how things are done.

You also enjoy collaboration. You know how to work with different teams, communicate findings clearly and build relationships with stakeholders who may not share your technical background.

Above all, you are proactive, adaptable and motivated by the opportunity to make a visible impact in a growing business.

Why Join Moe's Home Collection?

This is an opportunity to join a creative, entrepreneurial and people-first organization that values fresh ideas, collaboration and continuous improvement.

  • Make an impact:

Step into a newly established role where you can shape reporting processes, build systems and directly influence product quality improvements.

  • Collaborative environment:

Work alongside passionate and creative colleagues across multiple brands and departments.

  • Flexible work arrangements:

Full-time hybrid/remote opportunity, with Vancouver, BC preferred.

Annual salary range of $60,000 to $70,000, plus bonus.

Health, dental and vision coverage, including enhanced mental health resources.

  • Wellness benefits:

Complimentary weekly spin classes at Ride Cycle Club in Vancouver and Toronto.
