  1. About Our Client:

The organization operates in the government technology sector, focusing on delivering critical data engineering solutions for mission-critical government programs. It addresses challenges related to modernizing, enhancing, operating, and maintaining data systems within secure cloud environments, specifically AWS GovCloud. The team supports large-scale data architectures and migration from on-premises to cloud-based platforms to meet evolving governmental data needs.

  1. About the Opportunity:

The Data Engineer will contribute technical expertise to develop, maintain, and optimize data architectures and pipelines that support mission-critical systems. This role ensures scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions are delivered, enabling the organization to fulfill its operational requirements. The position is central to advancing data infrastructure and enhancing data accessibility and reliability within a secure government environment.

  1. Responsibilities:

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain data architectures and databases in AWS GovCloud.

• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and API integrations.

• Implement and manage databases and data delivery systems.

• Transform data into actionable insights through analysis and reporting.

• Develop ETL processes for data extraction, loading, and synchronization.

• Enforce data governance and quality controls; monitor ETL/ELT job performance.

• Troubleshoot and improve system performance.

• Collaborate with data scientists, architects, and stakeholders to support functional and performance goals.

• Document data architecture and system designs for technical and non-technical audiences.

• Conduct technical planning, system integration, and risk assessments.

  1. Requirements:

• Active Secret security clearance.

• 10+ years of data engineering experience.

• Experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL tools such as Pentaho.

• Proficiency in PostgreSQL administration and SQL querying.

• Experience migrating Oracle PL/SQL procedures to Amazon Aurora DB, Postgres, or MySQL.

• Expertise in data modeling, schema design, and database optimization.

• Knowledge of data security and compliance best practices.

• Experience with GitLab, Liquibase, and CI/CD pipelines preferred.

• Familiarity with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Debezium, RabbitMQ.

• Background in network and cybersecurity design, especially regarding Navy capabilities.

• Prior Navy experience.

• Experience with cloud data services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Cloud RDS (AWS RDS, Aurora).

• SAFe methodology knowledge.

• Experience with data warehousing and BI tools such as RedShift, MicroStrategy, Erwin Data Modeler.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or Go.

• Strong communication skills for interaction with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently.

• Certification: 8570/8140 - IAT II CompTIA Security+ CE.

• Preferred certification: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Data Engineer, Oracle Database Certified Associate, or equivalent (must obtain within 3 months if not held).

• US Citizenship required.

  1. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• The likely salary range for this position is $129,813 - $149,500, with actual salary determined based on experience, geographic location, and other factors.
